Supplying the ship and getting ready to sail

  • The resource system is great and makes the game more intense, but I feel it could be improved.

Specifically I'm referring to gathering supplies and getting ready to ship out once you join in at the beginning of a session. Playing Sea of Thieves is a time investment that, in my experience, is usually at least a three hour investment. Gathering or looting items from the island you spawn on to me is rather time consuming, tedious, and doesn't guarantee you will get all the supplies you need without waiting for the barrel items to respawn and loot the island again. I really don't enjoy doing it every time I start up a game and on days where I don't have a ton of time, looting takes up a fair amount of time that I could be playing the game.

My solution is to keep all the barrels and normal loot locations, but also to add a vendor on the dock that will stock you ship for you in exchange for gold. For example, you could go to the dock worker and give them 50 gold in exchange for 30 cannonballs, 15 bananas, and 30 planks. (the cost can vary, I'm just giving an example.) The added bonus would be that it gets automatically loaded onto your ship so you don't have to waste precious time running back and forth and jumping to and from the ship and the island.

That's just one fix I thought of for maybe a future update.

  • Gathering resources and using them wisely is a crucial part of the adventure experience

Arena offers quick action with ample supplies I don't think it belongs in adventure

Doesn't serve PVE anyway as pvpers would love to have to do even less to set sail quicker for those last minute grabs

  • 1 thing about your post, I have 10 million gold. If i was to spend all my gold i could get 6 million cannon balls, 6 million planks, and 3 million bannanas. I would have 3800 PAGES of wood and cannon balls. Think about that...... That price is way to underpriceced. I say that it should be .1% of the total gold in your inventory. A player like me, pirate legend, been playing for 6 months avidly buying ship sets would pay 10k gold for the resouces if i have excactly 10mil, a brand new player with 5k gold would pay 5 gold for the supplies. With your way a brand new player would buy 1 maybe 2 stocks of that. I would spen 100k gold if im playing with my whole crew and we all would pitch in, we would have 60 THOUSAND PLANKS EACH. that is just to much man.

  • @rtl-saint or just make it a 1 time per session thing. so you log on, and there is a chest with x wood/cannon/bananas that you pay 10k for a key from someone once. then the chest is empty for the remainder of the session.
you can make it a 1 per boat, or at worst 1 per boat per island.

  • @muttonchops5381 stop beeing so lazy...gathering supplies is part of the game loop

  • @squaz05 1 problem, 2 solutions, i have 16 alt accounts for free xbox game pass, why cant i get 10k on each super easily and get loads of supplies that way? The other solution would be to join buy it, leave join buy it, and repeat

  • If your spending “hours” gathering supplies you are over working yourself. Just grab what you can, then set off. 20min tops if your solo.

At best, I gather supplies until my pockets are full then jump sailing. 30min after login I’m already doing a voyage.

Buy supplies has been asked before and frankly. It help those with a lot of gold but be disadvantaged for those who don’t. And face it...if you buy supplies and find yourself sunk at the first island (it happens) you wasted gold and time.

i don't think you understand what "per session" means. 1 boat = 1 session.

you can relog as many times as you want, with same or different accounts. that boat already got their box.

20-30 minutes? fill up your pockets set sail. empty your pockets as you sail, cannon yourself to islands and forts on your way there, pick up a full set of stuff and mermaid back. empty your pockets when going onto an island of your voyage and fill up before you get back... by the time you are done your first voyage you will have too much of everything
