Huge update size?

I began the new Sea of Thieves update from June 16th through the xbox app on PC. The size listed on the patch notes is 6.28 gb. I am now sitting at 23.2 gb and rising. I assure you I pressed the update button, and every time I did it would download a file size exceeding that of 6.28 gb. Help me, I don't want to spent an hour and a half downloading the game again, I just want an update.
