Stuck on "Searching the seas" screen; game unplayable

  • Since the latest update (the one that introduced cats), whenever I try to join a session that was already in progress, I'm stuck in the "searching the seas" loading message no matter what I do. This happens even if I try to rejoin a session I was participating in and left. The only way to play the game is to start an entirely new session and pray I never get disconnected from it, or I won't be able to get back! Please fix this ASAP, I will sadly be forced to stop playing this game while this problem is happening.

have you put in a supply ticket?
have seen some tread that is kinda like yours.

  • There are a number of threads on this issue. It is a common problem.

I, for one, have raised a Support Ticket about it; but I imagine many others have too.

Someone on another thread suggested that if the crewmember that joined the game first (spawning the ship) leaves, then no one can join thereafter, including that original player. That certainly matches my own experience. The crew remains one man down (at least) for the rest of the session.

    (pasted from another thread)

  • I just got the following response, to my support ticket.

Server related issues should be resolved by now.
You may need to start a new session if you are unable to re-join your previous session.
If you are still having connection issues please try the following steps:

    • Try another antivirus / firewall (if you are on PC)
    • Change your NAT to open
    • Open up official Xbox Live ports
    • Turn off IPV6 in the router settings
    • Turn off Teredo on selected routers
    • Use a LAN cable if you are connected through Wi-Fi

I hope "Server related issues should be resolved" means the problem is fixed. I cannot personally confirm this, though.
