Faction update....

    So i hear you will be able to be an emissary.

    So lets say i am an OOS emissary and see another OOS emissary.
    Do i still need to be wary of this ship attacking me or are we all kinda one big extended crew family? Sailing under one flag for honour amd glory? Or are we simply just as piratey as we were before? Potentially getting attacked and sunk by another emmisary of the same faction?

    You see, i kinda like the idea of people under a certain flag being a team, like a naval presense. Killing other faction ships they encounter, and us pirates can just do what we want!

    If you are representing a faction it would be wierd to attack other representatives of the same faction...until you dump the voyage and revert to good old fashion piracy potentially forcing your default cosmetics on your ship revealing you are no longer an emmisary.

    You could i suppose creep up to a OOS ship and an OOS ship, then dump the voyage reverting to your default ship cosmetics and flag...which is what pirates did, putting up the english flag then raising the skull and cross bones when they were in range of fire.

    Hence the term “Showing your true colours”

    I would be really excited of Emmisaries work together against rival favtions.

    This is Rare and so it should be obvious it's nothing so elaborate :)

    It's a glorified alliance system with gold/rep boosting for your chosen faction.

    @methetron-mkii Do you know of there is an incentive to work together as part of a faction?

    Its just rather pointless in a way dressing your ship up representing a faction only to attack its ships 😂

    I was kinda looking for info on how this thing works.

    @daringclarky No more incentive than currently exists without an alliance. In fact, depending on how it works, there may be an incentive to attack other emissaries of your own faction.

    @entspeak That would be disappointing.

    In a way it could of been like a faction based skirmish across the map.

    If order of souls ships are attacking other order of souls ships that would be ridiculous. They would surely be exiled as an emissary and declared an enemy.

    Totally get faction vs faction or faction vs pirates who have no affiliation. But man, whats literally the point if you are an "emissary" but you arent actually, you are still a pirate.

    Even real pirates carrying letters of marque didnt attack the nation that gave it to them without consequences.

    I hope they actually make a point to this system other than recycled cosmetic and fist bumping rep gains that honestly i care little about.

    Id prefer a fresher sailing experience. I hope this delivers that.

    @daringclarky I can't say anything specific because of NDA, but you know how in past updates where the trailer looks really interesting because it's all PR with no specifics and when it releases it's mostly just a dressing up and/or reskin of old content? Well, you shouldn't expect this to be different.

    Edit: Dude... you're an insider... just look at the insider forums...

    In the end, the OOS doesn't care how you come about the Skulls you turn in, only that they get their hands on them. Same for all of the factions, really.

    Other ships of your faction will likely mostly be holding the best loot for you... I wouldn't warrant being safe.

    Thats a shame.
    Well they have missed a real opportunity there.

    Oh well. Back to attacking every ship on the horizon again.
