A Sad Rowboat Story...

  • Hold onto your grog, this is a long one...

I sailed my sloop through the Devil's Roar, watching the volcanoes erupt as I sailed past.

My hull was filled with lovely cargo I had acquired from The Seabound Soul Tall Tale. The Roaring Goblet, The Brimstone Casket, and The Magma's Grail.

I was so happy as I checked my map, realizing all I had to do now was sail back to Morrow's Peak Outpost.

I headed south, going below deck to check how close I was on the map.

I was sailing around Molten Sands Fortress but before I had time to get above deck I heard the sound of crashing, my boat stopped in its place, I rushed to get the holes closed. Water was filling my hull and fast.

I ran above deck heart full of fear, my boat was lodged between three rocks, one at my stern, one on my port, and the other at my bow. I couldn't get her out as she sat between the rocks.

I quickly loaded my precious cargo into the rowboat I had saved for this very moment. With one last look at the map I dropped my rowboat and began sailing west, knowing I'd run into Brian's Bizaar, then Fletcher's rest, then Kraken's Fall, then from there I decided I would go southwest and hit Ancient Spire Outpost.

I sailed and sailed and sailed. Checking my clock I realized it had been an hour and thirty minutes.

I finally reached Kraken's Fall. The smile on my fast was Pure Joy.

I rowed my tiny boat southwest, laughing as I could faintly see the outpost on the horizon.

I rowed and rowed until I saw it, I had just entered the calming waves of the outpost when a Galleon was looking right at me, they were sitting at dock waiting for me to get closer.

I shouted to them, asking them to let me pass.

Three of them swam to me, two sitting in the rowboat, guns drawn, while the other had his sword ready to strike.

I was outnumbered and had no ammo. My sword couldn't handle all three at once.

I stared in horror at the two hours I had just spent rowing, was wasted as they killed me and sold my loot.

  • Harpoon would have set you free

I love taking the rowboat out for a long voyage. I've probably spent more time in a rowboat doing voyages or other stuff than most pirates have. It feels more like an epic adventure with only one life, limited ammo, and no map table. Unfortunately yours didn't seem to turn out so well. I would have avoided the galleon at all costs. Even if someone is generally friendly, most people won't hesitate to shoot first and ask questions later. If they know you don't have a ship, they know you don't have a spawn point. Most pirates will see that weakness and feel the urge to exploit it. I'm sorry for your failed efforts but I'm sure it was a memorable voyage for you.

  • @rusty-xbone True. My rowboat didn't have one, unfortunately.

  • @testakleze I have to admit, sailing in the rowboat was quite fun. It did make it feel like I only had one shot, one chance. I should have stayed away from the galleon but I was desperate. You're quite right about it being a memorable voyage, it's one voyage I'll not soon forget.
