Sea of Thieves: Season Five
Enjoy a suite of new tools, features and quality of life updates that’ll reinvigorate your escapades on the Sea of Thieves! Bury your own treasure, light up the sky with fireworks and try out new ways of immersing yourself in the world. New Events, Seasonal rewards and more await too!
Buried Treasures
At last, you can indulge in that classic element of the pirate fantasy: don't just dig up treasure, bury your own! Almost any item can now be buried, creating a special map that leads back to your loot. Hide your most precious belongings, lay traps for other pirates who manage to steal your Map Bundle or even post a map to the new Quest Board for other treasure seekers to find! You’ll earn Renown if other crews find your buried items – will you reward them with a glorious prize, or send them on a wild goose chase?
Explosive New Additions
Use fireworks to set things off with a bang or call for help with a Signal Flare! These explosives can be found in barrels or purchased from the Merchant Alliance in themed Firework Crates, giving you a multicoloured cache of whizzes, fizzles and booms to really set off whatever you’re celebrating. Fire them out of a cannon and watch the sparks fly – or, better yet, row yourself out to sea to put on your own private pyrotechnics show with the brand new Cannon Rowboat!
Immerse Yourself in the Pirate Life
Deepen the bond with your crew in new ways! Sit or snooze in locations all across the Sea of Thieves, discuss new adventures (complete with lip movements when using game chat) or whisper to your co-conspirators by just turning your Speaking Trumpet around. Use the Rolling Dice Emotes to decide who triumphs on the tabletop, or get the band back together to try out three new shanties! Other new quality of life features include enemies dropping ammo, markers for Megalodon and Kraken loot and a whole lot more. And keep an eye out for critters scurrying around your ship if it starts to sink…
Seasonal Rewards
A new Season delivers a new set of rewards, unlocked by earning Renown on the seas. Live the pirate life and climb to new levels, earning cosmetics, gold, Doubloons and Ancient Coins! Take on a regular rotation of weekly and monthly Trials to boost your Renown, alongside Season-long Trials meant to be tackled across multiple adventures. Completing Daily Deeds now gives Seasonal Renown in addition to the stated gold or Doubloon rewards!
Pirate Emporium
Stay on the cutting edge of pirate style with new Pirate Emporium additions every month! There’s plenty to pick up with your Ancient Coins, from ship liveries to emotes, pets, costumes and more, plus the Plunder Pass for Seasonal reward boosts and some special ranges celebrating other franchises. Visit the Emporium shopkeeper above the Order of Souls pavilion at any Outpost, or jump straight in from the menu as soon as you launch Sea of Thieves!
New Events
A raft of new time-limited Events comes in with Season Five, starting with our annual end-of year celebrations, the aptly named Festival of Giving and Grogmanay. This year, embrace the spirit of generosity and donate loot to fellow crews to earn yourself some festive cosmetics, while getting some practice in at the tavern ready for Grogmanay. Check out the Events Hub for dates and details of all these time-limited Events (alongside some of your favourite recurring Events) as they’re unveiled!
Plunder Pass Rewards
Season Five’s Plunder Pass arrives on icy winds, giving corsairs a taste of the frozen north with the complete Boreal Aurora ship set and the evolving Creeping Cold Costume, which transforms as you progress through levels of Seasonal Renown. Cap it off with the Sand Angel Emote, evoking those carefree days of being a young pirate playing on the beach, and this Plunder Pass contains 14 all-new additions yet to grace the shelves of the Pirate Emporium. Pick it up at any time during Season Five!
PLUNDER PASS EXPLAINED
For pirates ready to conquer a Season’s Trials and claim every reward, the Plunder Pass will make success taste all the sweeter. Pay once and that Season’s Plunder Pass sends even more treasures cascading into the pool of rewards obtainable by raising your Renown. This includes brand new items ahead of their Emporium debut, so you could lay your hands on freshly forged treasures before your rivals get the chance!
TWITCH DROPS
This time-honoured method of snagging free stuff continues into Seasons. When Twitch Drops are live, just make sure your Sea of Thieves and Twitch accounts are linked, settle back and spend some time watching one of our splendid streaming Partners to pick up daily cosmetic drops for use in your own adventures. Keep an eye on Sea of Thieves’ social channels to see when Twitch Drops are active and what’s on offer!
