We've had mixed fortunes, what there does seem to be are a lot of new players on the seas, white sails and basic hull.
We met a guy at the Outpost last night as we spawned in who'd been sunk by Meg and needed a little help finding his way around, he was trying a galleon solo after a lot of sloop sailing apparently and then another sloop who fled from Cannon Cove but left someone ashore who tried to steal our ship and then others who've just seen our sails and turned tail and headed off in the other direction. We had the Reaper's Mark on for commendations which seems to make a big difference to encounters, not necessarily negatively either :)
Every session is slightly different and some days you'll come across everything that wants to sink you... others it'll be peaceful and yet others will be a mixed bag, that's the beauty of the game. It can also be determined by how and where you sail, whether you keep to the outskirts, hide behind the islands or sail out in the open regardless.
