PvPers Found A New Exploit. Because Of Course They Did.

  • So a team of toxic tryhards would down our mast, board our ship, set two of the known spawn areas on fire, and then camp us on respawn.

I think the game prevents respawning into fire hazards, so they were exploiting that to force us to respawn where they could then insta-kill us.
They did not take our treasure. They were not firing to sink us.
They were toxic tryhards looking to make our game play as miserable as possible.

And considering this was the fifth time in under an hour we had to vote to scuttle & switch servers due to toxic tryhards; PvP still ruins this game.
    Cool.

  • I'm sorry, buddy.

  • Sounds like a pretty typical sink strat to me if they weren't putting out the fire or bucketing water.

it's not like it's more enjoyable for people to get lit up while their mast is down

ships gotta sink, only so many ways to do it

your post doesn't say they were keeping you afloat.

If you changed servers 5 times in an hour you weren't getting camped very long.

  • @eguzky

I know you hate this response, but record and report. Not sinking or taking supplies/loot is actionable.

I tried to record with the xbox game key (win+g) and it would not come up.
So yet another crew being reportable & not getting reported.
Because Rare don't moderate in game atall.

Downing the mast & setting 2 fires will not sink a ship too fast.
And when we WOULD get moving; they just chain shot again. No normal cannonballs.

They were attempting to camp us, not sink us. They never even took our treasure when we were both dead multiple times.

Hard to say when we'd die 0.5 seconds after respawning due to them knowing where we'd respawn because of the fires.
Considering they never shot normal cannonballs & never stole our treasure; Everyone but you can see that they were not attempting to sink us.

    1. They were camping. That's reportable. They were not taking our treasure or sinking our ship. Why are you making excuses for toxic players?
    2. Using fire in specific areas to alter player spawns for easier camping is an exploit.
Or are you going to say they just somehow managed to set the same two fires both times they got aboard, when one was in the hold & one was at the map table; Neither easy to accidentally/randomly hit. And neither being a place where we fought them.

Nothing you have said yet shows that they were being toxic. You are assuming the worst and intentions, I don't do that. You can use your report tool however you wish, I don't accuse people of things to go with the flow.

I think accusation culture in gaming with sus and toxicity significantly harms the environment. That's why I challenge inconclusive accusations like this.

    They were camping.
They did not try to sink us. You assume they were trying to sink us because that's what you want to assume to make me wrong.

    1. They did not try to take our treasure when we were dead.
    2. They were waiting on our ship to kill us every time we spawned.
    3. They never used cannonballs when firing at us
    4. We always spawned in front of them because of the fires. Making that an exploit.

So tell me again how nothing I said shows they were being toxic. Because everything I said shows they were being toxic. You just refused to admit that so you can, for whatever reason, defend them.

Taking treasure is not an obligation.

They were sinking you and you still haven't said they were repairing or bucketing.

Cannonballs being relevant would need more context

They threw firebombs, people throw firebombs every day. Doesn't mean anything.

If you left 5 servers in an hour over camping how long could you have been in this situation for?

No, but if they were not in it for treasure, that leaves sinking us or ruining our fun via camping

They were sinking you and you still haven't said they repairing or bucketing.

You may have missed the part where they were not trying to sink us when shooting at us because:

Cannonballs being relevant would need more context

Context: They did not want to sink us, so they did not fire cannonballs at us. If they did not want our treasure & did not want to sink us; That leaves camping to make us unhappy.

They threw firebombs, people throw firebombs every day. Doesn't mean anything.

They threw firebombs in two specific spots. More than once.
Those spots made us easier to camp.

Stop being an apologist for toxic exploiters.
I've given enough context and all you say is 'But ackshually no' because you want me to be wrong, for some vague reason.

I've given enough context and all you say is 'But ackshually no' because you want me to be wrong, for some vague reason.

I see people make baseless claims in this game every day, including by people that some see as pillars of this community.

I value principles. I value accuracy and consistency. There is no vagueness to my reasoning.

They may have violated rules but nothing in this thread truly suggests that yet. You are always free to report your evidence.

Toxicity is a serious accusation and should always be treated that way.

I get camped 100% of the time I sink to players, because that's how someone like me sinks. Gotta get the board and gotta get the camp and bigger crews regularly achieve that. It's a clean sink. Fire, cannonballs, guarding a hole in the boat, letting a skelly ship or meg sink me while camping, doesn't matter, a sink is a sink. If I leave before the sink it doesn't mean they weren't trying to sink me it means I left before they sank me with damage on my boat. Fire is a threat to a boat and is going for the sink.

  • The results of a spawn system with no protection/immunity to player damage on spawn for an extremely brief period of time.

One of those issues that always needed some attention.

Other than that I strongly believe we should not be banning people for playing the game. I totally understand how someone can view their behavior as toxic in nature but if they didn’t say anything wrong either through voice/text or if they weren’t cheating then I think that…

It’s the devs responsibility to fix exploits/long-standing issues with the spawn system.

  • You can spawn in fire.

  • Every second post from you is just another complaint at people playing the game, calling them names, and conveniently not being able to report/record the people you make baseless accusations against. I genuinely think you’re full of it and it’s honestly got to the point of spam.
The forums aren’t your personal pity party, and after watching you closely, you’ve not learned a single thing every user and mod has been repeatedly telling you.

    Cool.

Where do you think you’d spawn if your entire ship is on fire?

You make a lot of seemingly baseless accusations, ya know. Like your chain shot thing yesterday, and now a fire respawn exploit? And of course you just haaaaave to call the people who killed you names, right? I wonder why someone felt compelled to spawn camp you 🤔

  • @tesiccl said in PvPers Found A New Exploit. Because Of Course They Did.:

Camping people instead of sinking them or stealing the treasure is not 'playing the game'. It's being toxic.

@d3adst1ck said in PvPers Found A New Exploit. Because Of Course They Did.:

    You can spawn in fire.

Well neither me nor my friend spawned in the hold (where there was a fire) or near the map table (where there was a fire).
We, without fail, would spawn directly in front of them. And they were not moving or otherwise indicating they were unsure of where we'd spawn.

You also said in another thread yesterday that you believed you were entering an hourglass match when the fleet event message popped up. Is it possible that you just don’t understand the game very well yet and shouldn’t argue with those correcting your haxusations?

  • So a team of toxic tryhards would down our mast, board our ship, set two of the known spawn areas on fire, and then camp us on respawn.

Not much a Toxic behavior....at first glance.

I think the game prevents respawning into fire hazards, so they were exploiting that to force us to respawn where they could then insta-kill us.

Seems more of a tactic, slowly your ship takes damage as it sinks and fills with water. BUT if they were keeping it a float, sure we can call it.

and considering this was the fifth time in under an hour we had to vote to scuttle & switch servers due to toxic tryhards; PvP still ruins this game.

Camping people instead of sinking them or stealing the treasure is not 'playing the game'. It's being toxic.

Anyone got a quote from a Rare Dev saying "Camping Spawns" as a ship sinks is reportable? They are just preventing you from attacking back while maybe they are stealing resources (which is pointless with resources in barrel spawns) but still.

Sigh....Praise you be fine in SS

    Moving On.

Wrong, it’s both. Report players who are being toxic instead of coming on here and repeatedly moaning and whining that you were bested in a fight you clearly didn’t want to have.

All of your anti-PvP rants contain insults towards people who sunk you. You even went as far as stating that you have no respect for any PvPers in one of your earlier post, yet you think people here will believe that you’re just quietly getting sunk in-game? Sure, man ;). I bet that you’d be the one getting dings on your account if you submitted video of your encounters.

  • If you believe a player has been toxic in the game or suspect foul-play, you can report them to Xbox Live here. You can also submit a support ticket via Rare Player Support. As this is a matter for Support and not the Forums, I'll be dropping anchor here.
