I'll go straight. Most people say that they want weapons and/or clothes to have attributes, to be more powerful, to dig faster with an epic shovel, have better boots to boost movement speed, things like this... But when you think about it, no one wants that. No one wants to be disadvantaged facing a pirate / crew who have a better experience of the game, who's richer ; it will litteraly kill the game for new players and casual players. I'm sure devs make the good choice to not include this.
But I think something is possible nethertheless :
First of all, I don't remember the post on the forum but someone said that the game needs the notion of rarity and I totally agreed with it.
Fast example : extremly low chances to get special items - or fragments of it - in chests. Or instead of it, fragments of a rare map to find what I'm about to tell you.
I'm sure you all remember of Jack Sparrow when he took the cursed coin. He was transforming to the moonlight. It's nearly the same standard :
until you equiped this item, you're cursed. This curse can be visible to other players (like skeleton Sparrow) or not, depending on the item.
And it's not a simple super rare thing just for show. You're cursed. So you're DESADVANTAGED. And YOU decided to be when equiping the item.
Then, you have another goal being cursed :
- Try to kill an antire crew, when you can't use a single banana, when you have only one slot for ammo in your weapons, cannot use your cannons...
- Hunt a big creature in the map that you're the one to see, even you're crew can't see it. Could be nice to fight an invisible monster with someone who actually can give instructions. And then, when the monster die you broke the curse, the item has no more effects.
- Think we can have many ideas on this...
So when you achieve any of those goals, obviously, you obtain super rare items, clothes, anything for the ship, weapons, (pets later), music instrument, or anything that can be cool to show !
