I recently purchased a copy of Sea of Thieves on Steam because I was having beard problems with the Windows Store version (after not having issues for over 1,600 hours). The Steam version runs great and I have eliminated the beard issues by using it. I think I alleviated the beard issues I was experiencing with the Windows Store version and would like to default to using it since it tracks Xbox profile stats like meters sailed, chests turned in, etc. (while Steam does not track these).
The issue is when I try to join a friend's game from either Game Bar or the Xbox app itself it force loads the Steam version of Sea of Thieves even if I already have the Windows Store version open in running. I can load into boats on both versions but accepting friend's invites always forces me back to the Steam version. What determines which of the two version will load when joining a friend's game?
I would like to keep both copies installed in the situation that I run into issues with the other. I just need to find a way to default joining friend's games to load through the Windows Store version not the Steam version. Any help is much appreciated, thanks!
