Frequently Asked Questions
The Plunder Pass is a Seasonal premium item that allows you to unlock extra rewards as you play the game and naturally raise your Renown. Alongside the standard rewards available to all players as they play through a Season, the Plunder Pass grants access to an additional pool of ship and clothing cosmetics, plus further caches of currency including Ancient Coins!
Once purchased, you won’t need to do anything to activate your Plunder Pass. Simply continue to level up your Renown through the Season as you normally would by handing in loot, overcoming enemies, completing Trials and so on, and enjoy the extra rewards automatically delivered as you unlock them.
Even better! After purchase, the Plunder Pass will automatically award any cosmetics or currency unlocked at Renown levels you’ve already reached in the current Season.
Like other Seasonal rewards, Plunder Pass rewards are unlocked gradually as you play the game, raise your Renown and climb the 100 levels over the course of a Season. This means that to get the full value from your Plunder Pass, you’ll need to put in the time to raise your Renown and ensure you unlock all the items for use!
Each Season has its own Plunder Pass with its own selection of items, and each one can be purchased for 999 Ancient Coins.
Of course! Check out our Plunder Pass Explained article, published when the Plunder Pass first arrived in Season One, to find out more about how it works and why it was introduced.
Ancient Coins can be purchased in packs from the Microsoft Store, or by visiting the Pirate Emporium in Sea of Thieves. Players participating in the Microsoft Rewards scheme can trade their accumulated points for Ancient Coin bundles. Ancient Coins are also awarded to players who defeat rare Ancient Skeletons encountered in the game itself.
If Ancient Coins are purchased from the Microsoft Store, they must be added to your account and validated by logging in to Sea of Thieves before they’re available to spend in the Emporium.
