Rare it's high time that you add a PROPER tutorial
I had enough of people playing with
new players who do not even know how to fight
@springtrap451 This game doesn't need a fancy toturial.
Players just need to figure things out the old school way, the gamer way... Pushing buttons and seeing what they do.
That's how i learned to play during the pre-release week.
I set sail in a storm, knowing nothing... When i emerged from the storm, i was ready to sink ships, rofl... I mean that literally, i sunk like 5 ships that session, and felt like a real pirate, i loved it! One of my victims said "Hoooly s**t, you're good!" after i said "Die, ya scurvy seadog!" and killed him. xD
Memorable moments!
My first experience was clumsy, hectic, and confusing, and i loved every second of it. xD
I would say nay for specifically a tutorial for Arena, all your skills from Adventure Mode transfer directly too this. Arena is just that, a compact version of Adventure. The only difference, instead of turning loot into outposts, is turning them into mobile Sea Posts. Their is no way to properly develop a tutorial that can go into fine details on the nuance of ship combat. Aside from the basic, Sails make you go forward, Cannons put holes, and planks fix holes. Their really isn't much to add too that. The rest is player determined strategies. Something like raising sails while doing a pass of cannon-fire to ensure you can fire significantly more cannon-fire.
That and their is plenty of resources out there now to teach players games without actually making a tutorial. Streams and Youtube can ultimately do a better job than most developers.
There's already a video when arena launches that describes everything needed to understand what arena is all about.
The rest should be "learned" like @Sweltering-Nick suggested.
The beauty, and dare I say - the last bit o'shine on this game, is the experience gained from learning the ropes.
People are just getting lazy. I see so many newbies posting on the xbox crew match making thread that they're new and need help. Stop this! and figure it out on your own. Put in the time and effort. How I learned was playing by myself on a sloop and exploring the world around me. I studied the map, learned the islands, completed voyages, looted shipwrecks when I had no gold. I also watched YouTube videos of other players for tips. I did my research and I've gradually became better and wealthier.
@t-degennaro3106 i honestly dont think theres anything wrong asking for a helping hand the seas can be mighty rough i like helping new people going through each and every voyage with them teaching them the ropes and fending off some nasty pirates for them and bring them along on the pvp trips so they can try out the pvp system as its not the most user friendly of the sorts you'd be surprised how much faster people learn with a helping hand while it is not impossible to learn on your own but i got taught by a pirate legend the first person i ever sailed with and now im doing the same if i see a new player i'll see how and if i can help i kinda follow the pirate code in the tavern
@jollyolsteamed
I never thought about it like that. And I totally forgot about Article 6! Thank you for reminding me.
