Did a number of quests last night with 3 ships contributing to the alliance work. It was magical! It was disappointing to see that the Ritual Skull turn-ins didn't appear to count towards the commendation totals. There is either a significant delay on credit, or it's not applied. Any chance we can have alliance work count towards the totals?
Alliance Credit for Commendations
The commendation asks you personally to turn in the item, it would not make sense to have commendation progress shared across alliances because you aren't physically doing what the commendation asks for.
It makes sense for gold and rep but not commendations.
@chronodusk It actually just mentions to sell, doesn't indicate anything about you personally. Where this doesn't make sense to me is that alliance gold/rep already counts towards commendations. Why wouldn't loot item turn-ins also count?
In most cases it's harder to get multiple crew to work effectively vs. blowing everyone out of the water anyways.
For example - there is a commendation that specifies "sink 50 skeleton ships"
Why would you get credit toward sinking skeleton ships for a skeleton ship that was sunk all the way on the other side of the map when you didn't put a single cannon ball in it? See what I mean?
It doesn't make sense and it's unbalanced from a progression perspective. Gold and rep should be all you get from alliances.
In reference to your screenshot - that looks pretty clear to me that you or someone in your crew needs to turn it in... Considering that's how every single commendation has worked in the game.
It would not make sense to get commendation points for another crew turning in the item, because your crew doesn't own the item.

By that logic gold/rep shouldn't count for alliances either though...
The idea of the gold and rep being split... well, just gold at least, is that the members of the alliance are splitting their gold across their allied ships. Frankly it doesn't make sense that you get rep for alliance turn ins, but I guess it was needed as a balancing mechanic to make sure alliances are lucrative enough for people to want to join them.
Don't get me wrong, even though I don't use the alliance mechanic much, I do think it needs to be a regular part of the game. Without it, everyone would just attack each other and the world would be predictable. But commendation progress really wouldn't make sense though.
