Texture/rendering Issues (Xbox)

    Ahoy,

    Since the Anniversary Update I've been facing an issue that delays the Texture rendering by a lot of time, sometimes it doesn't even render at all.

    What does this affect my game:

    • Islands became inaccessible
    • Cannot consult my Compass or Watch because it's all blur
    • Huge delay on changing weapons or selecting itens
    • Items in the inventory/customization chests do not shows the image.
    • Cannot select some items because of the delay they take to appear in the inventory/customization chests.

    I just want to know if this is a common issue (if someone is facing the same) or if it's something wrong with my Console.

    PS.: I haven't Report this issue yet. SoT is the only game I'm facing this issue

    @seamus-hound ahoy mate,
    Just a little note about kraken, if you allow me to.
    Kraken can be easily avoid with the current mechanics.
    You just need to be aware of there's a Skull/Ship Cloud in the sky.
    If there's one, you can rest assured there won't be any kraken spawning on you.
    If there's no cloud you have an high probability of one to spawn on you.
    Because that's the only time it appear, between Raids when there's no cloud in the sky

    To avoid it you just need to stop your ship near an island untill you see one of those clouds in the sky again.

    @seamus-hound not really... My problem with the Kraken is... Well was when I had nothing to collect from it that could interest me so it would just be a waste of time... Now
    I have something new again, I have the meat to collect.

    The last krakens I had spawning in me, even solo tasted like heaven.
    It is really a matter of knowing what to do when we face it. It's pretty easy.

    But this isn't related AT ALL with the subject of this topic.

    The Anniversary Update is the most unstable update ever for me on my OG Xbox. Constantly crashing, everything is not loading, can't even take any great screenshot anymore, everything is always blurred :(

    They said in the Patch Notes they improved the loading times but for me it's taking even longer than before.

    Sometimes I can't take any weapon/tool in my hands, the game just doesn't want.

    Sometimes I get some notification 5 minutes later that I started or completed a tale or sold something while my crewmates already had them when it happened (so it can't be from the servers lagging).

    This is very annoying, spending my time to wait for everything to load, well, when it does...

    @skulliah yes! This is exactly what is happening to me. Apart of the loading times. Actually, now that you mentioned, the loading times (black screens) seems to be way faster then before.
    Maybe that's the reason, the game do not render, so it's faster for me.

    Well, damn. 😐

    I need to add that to my report.

    I've had issues 2 and 4 on pc as well.
    I've also had some weird, purely texture related glitch where the chests you can open up sometimes are lacking the texture and you see through your ship. As in the size of the chest shows the water surrounding the ship.

    been having a lot of issues with texture taking ages to load up when bring the compass out etc and this is on the Xbox One X

    I used to play on both Xbox and PC, but now I have completely switched to PC because of these mentioned issues.

    Some of my friends have the regular Xbox or the Xbox One S and don't experience as many issues like the ones on the Xbox One X.

    It's a shame that the console that is marketed as the superior one gets the least attention. Still, it's something that can be fixed by optimizing the game for all platforms.

    Yea I'm having these issues, but I'm still able to get on islands. It'll be a blur, but when I get closer it finally focusses. Trying to change your outfit is a pain too. Seeing a black picture can read name, and not see it. It seems to help if your not sailing when doing this. Feels like it loads quicker. I could be imagining that though.

    PC player reporting in.

    Although not as egregious as what you describe, I've experienced similar issues. I've seen delayed images for items in barrels and the occasionally blurry pocket watch and compass. It usually only lasts for a few seconds, but didn't happen before the Anniversary Update.

    Most pressing, however, are the islands - just misshapen, lumpy vaguely island-like blobs. This has only happened once to me, but is gamebreaking. Regardless of this bug, it also occurred to me that I have to get much closer to islands now for them to properly render.

    Rare announced server maintenance for tomorrow, along with a patch. I hope they can sort out these issues.

    @jayne-cee yes I do hope so as well!

    I reported these issues and unlike any other report I made Ithe past, the report teams haven't flag my ticket as solved yet.

    Kraken and MEG can spawn always, even if there is an fort or skelly ships. My crew have had it multiple times, so this is just complete bs and nonesence.

    I do remember of fighting the Kraken while on Forts or while heading to one, but that was long ago.
    For about 6 months, at least, this is the current spawning requirement.

    I played yesterday, and we were attacked by an kraken on our way to the fort, so no, kraken can spawn when their is an fort or skelly ships.

    Show us proof of that.

    Yes it was still active, and i dont have the proof. I dont record my sessions or take screenshots all the time, but the next time it happens i will make sure i got some screens ;)

    @mentimjojo I'll be waiting.

    I was in the same position as you, I could swear that I could fight the kraken while an active Raid was active.

    I promised I would record that moment... So from that moment on I tried to capture and payed attention if there was anything... Guess what, I still have no proof of that...

    @nunoazuldimeter I have been having the same problem and I'm looking for a solution to the problem here. I have been told it's the console I use but I don't think that's the case and it's very annoying to play when I can't even view my reps half the time I'm going to uninstall and reinstall to see if it's going to fix the problem.
