Download/Install issues cause Immediate Refund

  • Purchased the game, started downloading it, Microsoft Store would not download/install properly.
After 1.5 hours on the phone to Microsoft Support trying to resolve the issue, they couldn't fix it and finally just gave me a refund.

I really hope those of you who can play this game enjoy it.
    Thanks for NOTHING Microsoft!

  • I noticed just now when installing it, that at 50GB it was at 9% apparently.
Can ANYONE tell me WHY this game is 500GB?

  • @saycred1 repetitive suggestion but have you tried to power cycle your platform that you're playing on? Full shut down and not instant on if on xbox.

  • @fds-labirynth I'm on PC, and yes.
reset the windows store, reset the PC, did all the troubleshooting Microsoft suggested, and all the troubleshooting SoT website suggested.

    That's a visual bug, It's not really at 9%, and the game isn't 500gb, it's 50gb

Ahoy there, the game should be around 47.22 GB download, but I've also encountered and seen others reporting this infinite download problem - here are some instructions which have solved the issue for other community members -

Here is a workaround for another issue you may encounter, stuck "Downloading" forever on the Windows 10 Store.

Here is a workaround for another issue you may encounter, stuck "Downloading" forever on the Windows 10 Store.

    1. Cancel the stuck download on Windows 10 Store
    2. Close Windows 10 Store
    3. Search for Apps & Features, open it and scroll all the way down, if you see something named "Unavailable" uninstall it.
    4. Search for Windows 10 Store in the same Apps & Features area, select it and click "Advanced Options"
    5. Click the Reset button and let it complete
    6. Search for "wsreset" without quotes in windows, then open it and let it run, when it completes the Windows 10 Store will re-open
    7. Attempt to reinstall the Sea of Thieves beta, it should progress normally now.

  • @katttruewalker - No "Unavailable" to uninstall, no Windows 10 Store in apps and features area, done the wsreset multiple times.

  • @saycred1

If you scroll down your list of apps it should be there as 'Microsoft Store', click on that and you'll be able to either uninstall it or reset it by going to Advanced Options.

  • @katttruewalker Done that, but since Microsoft support couldn't figure it out, they've already refunded me and now I have to REBUY the game to be able to attempt to re-install, which I can not afford.

  • @saycred1

I'm sorry to hear that, perhaps reach out to them and cancel the refund or another option would be to purchase a game pass trial which would allow you to play the game for one month.

  • @katttruewalker i'm on PC?

  • @saycred1 It applies to PC as well, because Sea of Thieves is a Play Anywhere game.

  • @katttruewalker thank you, attempting 6th installation now. Unfortunately I'll only know if it works at 50GB I guess.

Rediculous this AAA title still has this issue from beta?

  • @saycred1

Sadly I think the issue is with the Microsoft Store rather than the game itself and as such something Rare would have little control over. It's not popular with PC players.

  • @katttruewalker The issue still continutes.
    What a shame.
    Game could of been great.
