It would be interesting to have mermaids play a more significant role in the world of SoT. Perhaps we meet and interact with them as they are laying on rocks, singing siren songs, on or near shores of islands. Perhaps they live in underwater cities. Perhaps they can reward us with instant transport to destinations of our choosing. Maybe they have special treasures and quests for us that lead us into danger, but have great rewards. Perhaps they have potions that allow us to swim for extended periods underwater. Perhaps if we fail their quests, or we betray and refuse them, they have the power to change the weather to be more malevolent against us... or have Megs, sharks, and Kraken attack us more often for a period of time. Perhaps they can asist in skellie ship battles.
There's a great deal of potential for mermaids as both allies and/or malevolent characters.
