Greetings
The newspaper "Pirate Times" is a charming way to expand the sea of thieves universe. Sadly, it doesn't affect anything in-game. Therefore I suggest making it a buyable and readable in-game.
Imagine reading the newspaper as you sail toward your next destination. Or what about being so interested in Merricks adventures to notice you're being attacked by the Kraken.
Besides the funny situations, one would enter reading this paper, it would ensure that every player would be updated with the "Sea of Thieves" world, and content. It would add a little more life to the world, in the sense that stories from both NPC's and players circulates the world.
It might even inspire a lot of people, as they read about incredible feats from other players.
My suggestion has an obvious amount of flaws in terms of: "Is the newspaper an item in the inventory wheel?", "Where do you buy it, and how much should it cost?", "Won't it go stale after you've read it the first time?". I believe the good outweighs the bad, though I do see that it will require a certain amount of work to implement.
Now you've got my suggestion and I hope you will consider it.
