Ability to Vote (Cancel) Messages in a Bottle

  • Hello Community & Dev's,

I wanted to share my thoughts and suggest an idea for Message's in a Bottle (MiaB). Let's say your crew doesn't want to do a certain MiaB that someone retreived from an island. Would it be hard to add MiaB's to the Captain table where we all vote on Voyages as a separate sheet or the bottle itself so that the crews could vote to cancel?

  • please. bump 😎

  • On the one hand I think this is a really good idea, clear off stuff you know you're not going to do, on the other hand I don't think there's much point, do them or don't, you don't really need to get rid of it, just ignore it, if you get a lot of them just press x on your voyage wheel to see the next page. I wouldn't be against this idea existing but I don't think I'd ever really use it

  • The bottle should be put on the table then to get rid of it you can vote to throw it overboard. Then maybe another crew could even find it.

  • Totally agree.
IRL, I would just slide the message/map back into the bottle, pop the cork back in and stuff the bottle back into my pouch.
    Run away whistlin.

In the game...if I don't do the bottle and quit session....is it gone? I assume so.

Would be nice to have a trunk on board where I could store all these bottles for a rainy day.

We could steal bottles from one another by rummaging through these trunks.
Could add a whole 'nother kind of stealthy fun.

If you/the crew leave(s) the game, the message in a bottle is lost. would be an interesting mechanic where you could steal maybe a copy of an enemie's message in a bottle and then the race would be on to complete it?

  • @nacmine Love the idea of being able to throw them overboard and have them floating/drifting in the sea to the nearest shore for another crew to pick up!

Maybe all maps should have a "bottle this" option with maybe some kind of fee for bottling - to not make this some kind of cheatable system.

  • @nathan-wrath
    Ooooh....I like that race idea.
    🤔🤗😄

Soooo.... this raises questions for me. Don't you find it an inconvienance to have to navigate the map page to be able to get to the one you want? the most I've had on board was 6 so I didn't fill two pages but next question that raises to my mind (and I might have to field test this) but...

How many map sheets can you hold at once? Is there only 2 pages available? or would you have a 3rd page pop up if you accumulated enough sheets...?

  • @musicmee Yes! I was thinking it seemed a bit unnecessary to be able to cancel these, but if you could decide to leave them for other crews that would be amazing!!

  • @lil-fokker Ya, might be a great way to encourage people to either do the MiaB's or to run after an enemy ship who stole a copy?

  • @nathan-wrath no idea, I usually just do the voyages... on an Athena's we regularly go into the second page, but then we just crack through

  • @reedski I'll field test it tonight and just go on a server with one purpose, to hunt for MiaB's.

  • @nathan-wrath find a good mission to start, if you can use Athena's cos they're guaranteed to get a full wheel, if not just find the fullest wheel you can before you set off, that way you need fewer bottles

  • @reedski once i have enough, i'll just initiate an athena's to see.

  • @nathan-wrath let me know how it goes, if there's no top end I would be very interested to find out

  • @reedski all of a sudden we find out you could have like 10 pages or something nutz like that lol, it would be fun to troll a friend into joining your sloop once you were completely full of ONLY MiaB's lol

  • @nathan-wrath you sir are an evil genius...
