Forsaken Shores AI threat.

    While everyone is looking forward to cursed sails and the skeleton crews that they bring, some of us may be wondering about the new AI threat in forsaken shores, and i have a feeling what the new threat in the new islands will be,

    A Phoenix

    now i'll be the first to admit that it seen a little weird to have this bird in a game that is all about the sea and it's dangers, but it would be a nice change of pace to have a threat from the skies than the seas or the island forts and if you look back at the e3 2018 trailer for sea of thieves, you will hear the maiden of the order of souls says that the new lands is a place of fire and ash, so a creature that fits the description of the new islands will be great in my eyes, after all, we do have skeletons, the kraken and the meglongdon in the game so it would make sense to add in another creature of myth and legends,

    I saw a video with one of the dev team explaining that along with the skeleton manned ships the ‘fire and ash’ will be active volcanos that spew molten lava as you approach the island with a possible row boat

    @berger1111 but a Phoenix or 2 may or may not add to the danger of the devils roar.

    I remember seeing some Phoenixesque paintings on an island and wondered what that was all about

    @nikinjapan i believe those paintings were on plunder valley island Falcore gaming did a video on it.

    Havent thought about it really but now that you say it, it makes perfect sense. Especially as there are already hints about a pheonix on plunder valley, as some other posts mention above :)

    I saw a thread months ago that speculated on these paintings, he described a myth creature - basically a giant eagle that terrorized the pirates on the occeans.

    EDIT: Roc is the name of the bird. Not a phoenix though.

    The phoenix is a symbol for rebirth...for a never ending cycle...not "really" for fire only.

    And I wouldnt want it, not without a game mechanic that allows sails to burn. Having a bird made of fire fly over your ship made of wood and sails...well...no matter how good your aim is, one single flyby by that creature is a ship sunk...and planks wont help.

    So...I dont like it. There are hundreds of other creatures out of legends and myths that are better fitting imho.

    @Tre-Oni That was my first thought. If these volcano rocks are anything like skeletons there's a reason we need a rowboat to get on land lol.

    Plunder Valley is a whole island dedicated to birds with cave paintings of big birds coming from the sky, some good and worshiped and some feared, so there very well could be a pheonix coming, check out Falcore Gaming made a video about it on youtube and it looks amazing!

    They said in the podcast that the area was the ai threat itself... The falling rocks must be programmed ai....

    Hmm, interesting theory, especially given the in game evidence.

    That said, if we get a bird enemy, I'm gonna want some bird-shot* for those cannons ;) PULL!!! =D

    @Tre-Oni @Andreas5524 I have it! Clearly the AI portion is a giant Skeleton Shaman who lives in and commands the volcano to fire flaming rocks with skeleton cannon accuracy, aka Wood Seeking Missiles. This content will be Ultra-hard-mode.

    In seriousness, yea, dodging flaming rocks in a rowboat sounds like it could lead to some rather entertaining occurrences. Especially if you happen to find some gun powder you want to get back to the ship =)

    A sea serpent would make more sense and be amazing! "Devil's Roar", fire and brimstone, what would be perfect for that? Sea serpents of course!
