Best expiernce on any game I have had, ever.

  • 2 galleons, 3 sloops, half the server, imagine...a big fat ugly fish! and half the server fighting it....300+ cannonballs 200 planks, 150 bananas! AH! It was amazing! Everyone working together to kill the new boss! It felt like a boss! what...14 people+
And after all that...we went to merrick, took a nice picture all together, and then went to plunder outpost to get wasted.
To all those that took part, that was so much fun.

the image of the whole crew -2...stupid skeles

    EDIT!:

the aftermath of when we went to the tavern and started doing some chievo helping! Thanks again guys for the tactical chuder and the blunderbuss achievements!

edit again: thanks to BullSkunk for taking this screenshot!

  • @onyx-wartooth I think 5 ships would be the whole server. Sounds fun, can't wait to give it a go.

  • @blackbeard-lufy i cant say i was disappointed in the slightest.
Shark was huge, the fight was intense, and the whole aspect of everyone working together...RIGHT BY A SKULL FORT! was awesome!

  • That's pretty amazing, And I was impressed with the crew of 6 we had with another sloop helping us. (a Sloop duo abandoned their ship and worked on our Galleon)
but 10+ people would have been a lot of fun.
I'm definitely going to help other crews complete HD.
If only to see more people come together like this.

  • @seeker-of-peace it was awesome, its good to see that crews were willing to help each other for a common goal, and hopefully every new dlc will lead to even more amazing stories like mine, and yours, or anyone else's!

  • @Onyx-Wartooth I am sure the new content that is added will only encourage other crews to team up. I don't appreciate the hate HD is getting; especially since it was just a fun way to add the Speaking Trumpet and the Drum.

Trumpet kinda sucks when you're on xbox playing with party chat (for obvious reasons)

  • @seeker-of-peace well, they really had basically a month to work on it if you really think about it, a month of game release patches and fixes, a month on actually working on THD, which it would've been 2 if they weren't rushing to get content to sorta boost their lack of content
In reality, THD was a way to not only introduce 2 (3 if you add the new flag system) new ways to get crews to communicate and sorta have fun, ya know.
The thing is, the trumpet plays a vital part in THD to coordinate large crews of multiple ships, and it will forever be a way to talk to other crews, a much needed tool from the get go, but im happy eitherway.
Rare even said because how short the time they had to work on this, it is really small compared to whats going to come next, espically if they have 3 times (4 if the article talking about the 4th team is true) which means...3 (4 if the fourth team is real) month for each team to conjure a new and awesome thing to bring everyone together and work for the same goal, and to add a new permanent residence to the sea.
If the hungering deep is receiving backlash from the community, they also need to remember, it was us that rushed it, and we cant always blame rare, they have communicated to us, and re arranged their roadmap to what we, the playerbase, want. Our feedback, is key, to this game's growth...or destruction.

  • We had 3 gallions. So epic.

Funny thing is when we went to turn in the quest there was a griefers there. 3 ships destroyed the fool.

But that fight. Their ship sunk and they joined the 2 ships for a 6 man crew. It was so fun.

  • @mighty-ace123 when i play sea with friends, we have this sorta golden set of rules, to follow, to sorta prevent any short comings or what not

    1. Confirmed Solo sloops are friendly, unless they really want to pick a fight
    2. No Xbox live party chat, the experience is better than the smash talk, plus the more real time salt the better.
    3. Always try to put your best foot forward, be friendly! It may even pay off. (Wont lie, a guy gave us a captain's chest just because we didn't kill him and were nice and showed him the island he needed to go to)
    4. When theres new players, help them, and give them a slice of lore pie! Its always more fun to immerse them with a bit of lore, and teach them a few tricks.

Thats just what my crew goes by, its always more fun for us, but ya know...not all people are the same.

  • I completely agree this was the best experience I have had so far, I am still waiting for the trolls to start saying “ sea of thieves not sea of friends”. Personally this proves them wrong. More team based raid bosses please rare. If you implement a parlay function within a set radius that would also be great 👍

  • @onyx-wartooth game chat quality is so bad though...and switching midgame on xbox is awful :(

  • @mighty-ace123 tell me about it...i wish mircosoft would make headsets be able to switch between at a press of a button, or have the option to hear both game chat and party chat, and whether you speak in one or both.
Not to mention, that moment you switch, you might be needed and your fumbling around in the menus trying to switch and its just awful...even PlayStation struggles with their party system sometimes

Weird thing is, I've heard this is easy to do on pc. Kinda strange right?

  • @mighty-ace123 on my pc, i cant use party chat, and when i play for honor on my pc, everyone uses their phones now for discord because we've been having issues with xbox party chat connectivity.
The whole pc thing is because it runs different applications and junk, i made a pc and i barely understand how my ram sticks are compatible with my motherboard...
And it is easy to switch, i just never understood why they wont let you also have atleast the OPTION to listen in game chat, via party chat options, because if you use a xbox one party chat, and play say...idk...black ops 2 a 360 game, you can hear game chat but because your in a xbox one part you can also hear your party chat. Your mic input is in the party chat also but not in the game. Following me? Which...if thats the case for 360 games...why cant they do that for xbox 1 games?

Sounds like something fixable for RARE? Hope so at least. Feels like I'm missing out on part of this game, for example I've never talked directly to a pirate from a different crew...

  • @Onyx-Wartooth that sounds like my adventure with the hungering deep quest :D basicially in the end we were 10 people on one galleon (some still needed the drums so why not all in one :D) with the slight mistake of summoning the shark a little too early and have everyone running for cannonballs (even though only 4 people were needed :P )

It was a blast with both ping and that shark was probably terrified about the 10 man galleon XD In the end we were at the tavern drinking and having a blast :D in the end we even made the galleon spa and relaxed a bit :D

And yes it may be short but FINALLY I can say without remorse that people were friendly ;) one crew had loot (even a grog chest so not that small of a loot) and the rest 8 of us insisted we take the treasure onto the one galleon and let the 2 guys cash it in and to my suprise: NO GRIEFING OR TAKING...well he gave us some castaways but still :D

    Summary: AWESOME :D

  • @shikia-caeleaum whats funny...is how i got into this mess xD i was chilling my the skull fort by t26 and i saw 2 galleons and a sloop and was like "I just wanna watch the world burn" then a pirate legend came on my ship and just drove it to them and asked "Wanna fight the mega?" and i was like HELL YEA!
Man...its amazing to see this game bring people together like this, it truly is.
And what a few of us at the end chucked about was someone made the joke of "Look at us, Xbox players and PC players working together, achieving a goal. Too bad we dont see much of that on the forums." And we laughed because that was a joke that only a few of us could get. Eitherway, xbox and pc players working together like this is also amazing in its own right.
Im so glad you had fun too!

  • @mighty-ace123 its not on Rare's side, it would be with a microsoft update directly for the xbox. You can always use your phone for party chat, and have a pair of earbuds plugged into your controller to listen in on the game chat, my friend does it.

Haha only problem with that, is the xbox app for my phone is riddled with bugs...oh well...

  • @mighty-ace123 atleast your phone doesn't overheat and randomly turns on...
You can also use discord on your phone, which is way less buggy and more clean and simpler to navigate on a phone.
But eitherway, try and encourage your party to stay in game chat, it can lead to some awesome adventures!

  • We just did one with 5 gallions

    Will try again tonight!

  • @onyx-wartooth This was very well put. I was kind of wary in the beginning of THD. Going to shark bait cove and seeing two galleons there, with me not being a huge fighter in the game anyway, was automatically a negative for me, but right off the bat I hear them calling saying “friendly, friendly” and from there the adventure started. From working together to solve the simple, but intriguing riddles is Merrick’s notebook, to helping repair each other’s ship while battling Meg. Very impressed with what Rare has done in the short amount of time they were given, and extremely excited about the future of SoT.

  • I totally agree, thanks Rare for making a great game. I beat the megladon twice yesterday and it was awesome. First time was with 8 guys on 4 sloops and 2nd was 9 people on one galleon. I logged in right when they said the servers would be on and had zero issues with mechanics and performance. Made a bunch of new friends and we even played together for hours after battling the megladon. This campaign brought so many people together and was a blast. Keep up the great work Rare! Also love the plain colored flags that are super affordable and other new items. I hope after the campaign we can summon the megladon anywhere on the map with 5 drums.

  • Yep, we had an absolute blast defeating that thing... it was fantastic!

  • @clumsy-george you uh....some kinda poet? because you made me smile, because thats trues. they had little over 1 month to work on this really, and now we saw what 1 month can do, but imagine 3 months of work? BOOM CURSED SAILS HYPE!

Hey! Can we already flood the forums with cursed sails predictions but all the images and ideas are the flying Dutch man from spongebob?

  • Yeah it was neat while it lasted and it seemed to bring people together. But this is more of what I expected the weekly events to be like. Just a small time limited thing that gives you a unique reward. They kind of over hyped this for just a one hour long voyage that doesn't even change the seas at all since the Megalodon just stays in one corner of the map and needs to be summoned

  • @onyx-wartooth This is what it's all about! Sea of Thieves, and gaming in general.

  • @clumsy-george Well said again!

  • @mrseniorwaffles The basis was to basically test the grounds i can imagine, and also a excuse for everyone to use the trumpet and yell at each other

  • @mighty-ace123 use game chat then.

  • @daddymacdown said in Best expiernce on any game I have had, ever.:

Tried it again tonight. Can not get it to work. Don't hear others talking, they don't hear me. Didn't matter at all, since every ship we approached for teaming up instantly attacked us. So much for Hungering Deep, rip.

  • @mighty-ace123 this is why I keep saying crews need the option to send a radius parlay command. Stops you getting attacked and hit by mistake it also shows your intent before you get too close. Once you leave a set distance from the other crew it should revert to normal.

If there was a reward for repeating the event, ppl would act differently imo. Devs should have seen it coming...
