IM SO SICK OF THE GREFING

    Seriously I'm getting sick of this!

    I'm on an island, digging up a chest when I hear cannon fire. I'm about to throw my xbox overboard because I seriously can't step foot on an island without these greifers. I run back to my ship and was able to kill the guy cannoning me. I thought I had time to go back for my chest before the boat sank, so I run back there to finish digging it up, and then 5 MORE OF THEM GANG UP ON ME AND KILL ME. I'm a solo player, I know I can team up with people to make this easier, and I know I could have idk, looked into this game before spending 60$ on it, because If I waited like a day and watched some gameplay I would see its not a good game. Every stream I watch they deal with greifers on EVERY island.

    Anyways back to the story I respawn and sure enough one of them is cannoning my boat as it sinks. Well there goes my 2 castaways I worked SO HARD for NOTHING. I decide im not gonna go down without a fight, so I jump back to the island and there are like 5 of them waiting on the shore, they all have blunderbusses and I go down. How the heck am I supposed to deal with 5 of these stupid greifing skeletons as a SOLO player?

    here comes the "wahh its a pirate game" complaints but let me tell you Pirates didn't have to fight skeletons. So why should I? Its a fantasy harry potter magical pony nonsense game. I just wanted to dig up chests without being griefed by skeletons, but instead these skeletons killed me. I don't get why they did it, they dont gain anything from killing me. I just want to dig chests without any conflict whatsoever. I don't wanna hear anyone say "this is how the game is" because there is no recognition for skeletons killing you in this game. They don't get achievements, so obviously thats not the way this game was intended to be played.

    They need to fix this issue. Maybe they can have a non PvE server or something. Or you can like go to the tavern and buy some skeleton-be-gone or something. This is going to seriously ruin this game.

    If you disagree you're probably a greifing skeleton too. Just own it.

    So you just reply to threads without even reading them? Smart. Ok genius then how does climbing in my crows nest and looking for ships help me with these skeletons? They spawn out of the freaking ground. You can't see them coming. Maybe you can if you're on PC and hacking, but I play fair on xbox thank you very much.

    At first I thought it was another post about PvP, but you are seriously complaining about skeletons killing you and calling them griefers? Also, you lost 2 castaways chests?

    I don't believe this is a serious thread, though people on these forums keep surprising me.

    @captcrunchbeard I did read it but not for long I got to the part just before you started to talk about that these "griefers" were skeletons, I asumed you were talking about players, Lets face it who in their right mind calls NPC's griefers and also complain about NPCs in that way :P

    And the seafarers which is the one I tried to bring back before getting ganged up on by 5 skeletons.

    idk why you think this isn't serious, people complain about griefing all the time. This is called Sea of THIEVES not Sea of Skeletons. They don't steal anything, they just kill you and stop you from enjoying the game, how are they not griefers? I get it when another ship sinks me, at least then somebody gets the loot. But skeletons just crawl back in the ground and wait for more players. Plus they have like aimbot accuracy which means us xbox players are already at a serious disadvantage.

    friendly words of advice:

    If a boat 'sneaks' up on you while you are on an island, you didnt pay attention to the horizon. I know this can happen when you dont have a clear view of your surroundings because of islands and rocks but you pay attention while you approach your island of choice to not get surprised. I know, its a game that can get you paranoid. i played quite a bit of solo and still do sometimes, but its way more stressfull than teaming up, just saying - know what you are in for.

    Engaging in a fight with skeletons: it can get extremly annoying when you are solo treasure hunting, i agree, but unless you are doing Order of Souls bounties, skeletons are actually quite good to counter if you know how. blunderbusses are tough close range. i always carry the cutless - duh! - and a pistol. for one, the pistol has been dmg buffed recently i believe, it does decent dmg + the most important part: it has a good range. you can easily outplay blunderbuss groups by taking down 2 skeletons at the beginning with a few good pistol shots. i usually get my distance once the skeletons spawn and try to kite them around a corner of a rock or even trees are sometimes enough to do that.

    Hits stumble skeletons with pistol and cutlass. depending on situation i shot with the pistol and then engage with the cutlass since i have a nick of time to close the gap after landing a shot.
    Sometimes i stay close to their spawn and already attack while they are still raising from the ground. try to keep em close together, if they all have blunderbusses, try to strike a couple of them, a few strikes and 3 will die easy together. always carry bananas when going on an island, i often enough forget to stack up. scout the area of the digsite. there are barrels everywhere and sometimes, depending on island ammo boxes. if there is an ammo box around its all fun and games from there, just pistol snipe from safe distance.

    Moving around is key. If they have pistols, good luck, but with a bit of distance they will miss, find that sweetspot, skeletons shot in the ground before you when you are too far away, yet you will be in range to land those pistol shots yourself.
    It can get annoying and it can get overwhelming at times but keep your cool, plan ahead and always check for your ship and the surroundings. I run back and forth every now and then to see if there are ships approaching. It might take a minute longer in the end but at least you are safe.
    I am quite confident with the cutlass by now. That hasnt always been the case, familiarize yourself with your bread n butter weapon, its mighty powerfull. You will get better with it. Use block and lunge in combination and get to know when to use it in combination. I often enough lunge into an empty space just because I was too eager to finish the fight, keep your cool. its all manageble. gold hoarders solo is doable, just accept the skeleton nuisance. ;)

    Here we go again, solo mode = hard mode. Why choosing this mode if your are not ready for it? SoT is not as the other games and should not be the same.

    Rare said they want us to feel insecure they want us to feel anything. That's how the game works, if you want to be safe go play something else, that's all.

    Galleon with a c**p crew = extremely hard mode if not impossible mode...
    I agree that solo gameplay should be different then it is now, but not by much.
    Besides that this thread is pretty weird, calling skeletons griefers? W*f?
    Just another person misusing the word griefer. XD

    Tip for the OP: Get a duo sloop going, and if you hate skeletons already you'd better not become a legend... ;) (Those skeletons are truly annoying)

    You need to get on galleons. The sloop only goes so far in this game. Im always on a galleon unless i just want to sail around and explore.

    @captcrunchbeard Rare could introduce a feature like GTA Online that moves players who regularly kill other players onto a server that only contains these sort of players until their kill rate decreases.

    Personally though, I do not encounter the problem you are having and hardly see other ships if I am in my own sloop.

    The game would most likely be boring if ships didn't attack each other anyway at the moment. So in the current state of the game, I would disagree.

    Maybe if there is more to do in terms of PVE they could introduce the above feature, until such a time, maybe either skill yourself up, join a crew or play something different.
