We need some kind of throwable explosive. I would love to see something like dynamite. Am I the only one who wants this? Please comment and leave your thoughts or suggestions.

@mrgrim1666 I think it could be balanced, as long as it takes place of a weapon and doesn't do damage to a ship.
@drakkenblood Smoke bombs would be cool. Jump on an enemies ship and drop one of those bad boys.
They would have to fix it so that you don't seem gamertags through the smoke though.
@daguse0 I dont really wanna lose a weapon, i think it can just be added, i do agree with u on no or minimal ship damage
@mrgrim1666 I see what you're saying. Just don't think the devs want this turning into CoD on the high seas. It an action adventure game, not an FPS. So the focus needs to be on the adventures, not on the gun/weapon play. Yes, I am a bit fearfull that the community wants to turn this into fortnight with boats. That doesn't mean they can't add in a new item slot for "Throwables" as long as it stays balanced.
Maybe its more about a limited number of uses over replacing a weapon. 1 tnt stick, or 1 snake poison bottle, or 2 smoke grenades, or 2 grapples.

@mrgrim1666 I want to damage ships. right now without a keg or cannon there is no damage to ships in pvp. a grenade/tnt should damage ships
Blackpowder Grenade: Actual item like cannonballs and bananas. Carry three at a time. Radius damage to pirates. 1 Hole when thrown on a ship.
It's got an actual fuse. you light it and watch it burn down. It can blow up in your hand if you wait too long. They can throw it back if you throw it too early.Exciting, hands-on, visual, takes practice. In perfect keeping with the spirit of the game.

I'd be okay with a throwable bomb like we used to have. The old grenades that we always use in cartoons, the iron balls with the lit fuse on the top. I'd have that take the place of a weapon (cuz it just makes sense, after all you're carrying a bunch of melon-sized bombs) and cause AoE damage. If used inside the Hull it can blow a single hole. Limit of 3-5 per player, MUST take the place of another of your weapons in order to remain even slightly balanced.

I can see the argument, but I don't necessarily agree. Give them an item slot and let everyone carry 2 or 3. What's not believable is carrying around 10 cannonballs and five wooden planks... while shooting yourself out of a cannon.
It's all still balanced if everyone has the same access.
@captain-arcanic I must disagree. A bomb is not an item, it is a weapon. And allowing people the choice to take 2 guns as well as explosives (or sword & gun * bombs) would screw with the balance too heavily. Besides, the cannonballs and boards your character carries cannot be used on you they can only be used by the ship. In any case, which item slot would it take up? As it is the radial menu is pretty bloody full and it wouldn't be able to correspond to a number if you're using a Keyboard & Mouse. It would also skew the game even further into the PvP meta which already has a good chunk of the player population kinda up in arms right now.
I agree, it should be implemented like the guns in the game. Meaning it takes a weapon slot and you only get like 3-6 throws.
There could be classic ‘black bombs’ that deal raw explosive damage, pretty much like a gunpowder kegs but deals like half the damage and has a blast radius like half the size. If they do ANY damage to ships, it should be able to only pop ONE hole per bomb (and if it does ship damage, than decrease the amount you can carry at once).Then you could perhaps have alternate bombs types like firebombs that basically act like Molotov’s or something.

Possibly. But it would add many fun moments to the game.

There are still open slots in the radial menu. Keyboard slots are programmable, right?

Any new weapon will do that, whether it's in the weapon menu or the radial.
All that aside, I would be just as happy to see it as a weapon choice with the swords and guns.
Additionally: It should bounce and roll when it lands. Just cause I want to see pirates scrambling for it on the pitching deck of a ship at sea.
