Sword thrust delay.

  • What's the deal with the delay after you do a charged sword thrust. Is anyone else getting this?

The amount of times i have been killed when this happens is unreal.

it's an intentional stagger. Since the damage caused by the stab incurs both knockback and critical damage it intentionally has a side-effect in order for balance. Risk/reward type situation

  • It is meant to be there, its a short recover time after performing a charged attack. Without you would just be able to joust with your enemies spamming charged attacks flying past each other. Whilst that sounds amazingly fun it's not the most practical.

Also if there was no cool down using charged thrusts constantly would be faster than sprinting for movement again causing issues.

  • @mcdougle99 if so it's an unwelcomed feature. Seems stupid.

it's far less annoying than the sprinting skellies who can easily out run you and eat up bananas before you reach them, forcing you to either waste precious ammo or go on a 5 minute jog.

It's a mechanic that you have full control of. If you are spamming and using it at ill times, it's not necessarily a bad mechanic. Just practice timing, Make sure skellies are bunched first, as i said it incurs a knockback on anyone/thing you hit and will go through an opponents blocked guard.

  • I can see the point your trying to make.

It's just frustrating when your outnumbered by skeletons with guns and rely on overpowering them. I think the game would be better without that delay making u vulnerable.

  • @jam-esoteric There's a big delay when you miss, and a delay that's just long enough to let you jump back if you hit - so it's basically, don't miss?

  • @jam-esoteric

    Actually ure right...

I guess it is some form of fighting variation but it needs some tweak to be of use in real fights i guess... thing is consider every mechanic not to favour PC or Console only and thats quite hard i guess.

Maybe the thrust should not be a thrust like a jump but a charge like a sprint holding the sword up front... maybe with the ability to redirect mid-charge a lil bit. Then it would be of one use and storming under deck that could be for example... nobody would ever do anything else but walk in there with his blunderbuss up and that is a little one sided isnt it

  • @genereder good idea.

  • @lord-of-goats them pesky charging skeletons it is.

  • hold your guard button first, then do the charge attack. you can move faster while you're charging up which allows you to aim it better, and it seems to either stagger less or not at all.

  • @cwarrick66 Totally this! It also blocks the first incoming attack if you commit at the wrong time. And a jump at the very last second covers even more ground if they're suddenly too far away.
