Raising a Sunken Ship

  • Make one of the sunken ships at random locations a rare repairable one. After hull repairs are made you are able to attach lines from your ship and begin to tug it to the surface while trying to dewater. After raising the sunken ship you activate a “Davy Jones” event in which he and the Flying Dutchman spawn to try and reclaim one of his prized fleet. Upon successfully fending off Jones and making it back to port you are rewarded with merchant points(returning lost ship), souls points(defending against Jones), hoarder points(turning in a chest that spawns in the ship after it’s risen), and finally either gold or unlocking a new ship/sail design.

Rewards could scale based on whether you deterred Jones(similar to Kraken) where he just stops chasing or you actually sink him.

This could also be added as a weekly challenge.

  • With a game all about buoyancy and physics, it is impossible to tug a ship from the water. The only way that would be possible is if you pulled it onto land by some sort of device capable of withholding all that weight. Keep in mind, a sunken boat would weigh exponentially more than if it were floating on the surface without any water in it.
Sunken ships can be nothing more than sunken ships.

  • I don’t disagree with you. However this is a game. Let’s not forget the fact that we can eat bananas under water to hold off drowning and that a single bucket can remove a TON of water.

  • Hmm... not sure about the implications of salvage... but...

It did make me think diving bell :o

That could be a great thing
