Adding in Pregame Social Hub

    My thought on adding in a social hub island isn’t what your probably thinking of.

    Before I go into detail I understand the hard work they have put into the game already and the hard work it would take to pull this off.

    Instead of spawning in at a random out post with only your crew mates, I think what should take place before that is a dedicated map that is basically an over sized outpost where up to 30 or maybe even 50 people would spawn in, there would of course be different servers for this island, on this island there’s no pvp or pve it’s just a big gathering place, this island could open up a whole new type of community for this game. You could add trading options, friendly duels, bragging rights to who has the coolest outfit, clan/groups, mini games to bet gold, more reputation people that you can earn ship and clothing materials from, more interactive things such as sitting at tables or benches.

    When you spawn in solo you can run around find a group of people then go to a set of docks and set sail to the open world where then you would go through the loading screen and start at a random outpost and start the world of voyages and pvp as the game is now

    I know this is a bit rough idea but if done correctly I think it could turn out pretty cool in the end. Let’s get Rare to see this, please post a comment telling me what you think

    @crested-soul This would be so cool. like a pirate safe haven where the fighting just stops. The big outpost could be a city with npc or lots of real people like irl would have and the place is governed by a guild and the major cities could have diff guilds witch you could join or be against. Dude this game could be so awesome.

    @tastycookies124 thank you. And also depending on your guild there would be different outfit and sails or hauls for your boat so people know who your with this would be a huge game if it did this

    This is a very sensible idea, the devs seemed to push the social aspect of the game a lot, but then didn't really provide means to actually socialize.

    A simple lobby where lots of players can just hang out and goof around, separated from the actual map, is something that would probably make many roleplayers happy, while not impacting at all those who just wanna pvp.

    Yeah, I really want this to, and I think down the road, Rare would most definetly do this.

    It'll be like the Sea of Thieves version of Tortuga!

    @crested-soul i get what you're saying here and as much as ive been against all the "safe port" ideas, i like this. i see what your saying. this doesnt effect the main game at all, just a starting hub for people to socialize and even find crews.

    the could even have games like cards or darts against other players and let you bet your gold on the games.

    This would be pretty cool, now you spend about 2 hours with 3 other random people you most likely will not meet again fun though it is. It would be really cool to have a place like this to walk around and share stories! brag, duel, have some grog and meet new people you could maybe set sail with.

    @crested-soul Best idea I've heard for a tortuga-style island yet! I think that's probably the best way for it. And if you start in the social zone and want to go do a quest, maybe you can board a ship and sail away, then you enter next to a random outpost through a 'portal', or a green flash in the sky (very piratey), just got to keep in mind that it needs to be a safe distance from other players, you don't want to be attacked and they don't want a random ship who has teleported in to start firing at them. But yes, great idea +1

    This is actually a really nice idea. It's like an interactive pre-game lobby. But it's also way too complicated compared to the current matchmaking system. Never gonna happen.

    Why not, but you will get less gold and less reputation since you took less risk

    @sanni How is it complicated? This would literally need NO matchmaking, just somewhere to shove a large group of pirates who want to socialise. If anything it will require less servers as more pirates can use the same server. But yea, lets see if Rare ever introduces something like this.

    Yes this safe haven would replace the current matchmaking and would be much better too.
    But it would need hundreds of new servers hosting it and matchmaking does not. So it's not gonna happen.
    Good news: You can use a discord server in just the same way minus the visual eye candy and immersion.

    I think having it seperate from the main ''world'' in the game would solve a lot of issues. Especially for those who are against the idea of a ''safezone''. I don't even think thats a good word for it. Its not really about being safe its just about socializing and having a place to do nothing while still doing something. Right now sea of thieves doesn't really have that option.

    I've often said throughout the forum that the only way I'd be okay with a safe haven in the world would be if there's no way to turn in treasure at it.

    Having a separate pregame lobby all together to hop in, find a crew, or just goof off a bit would be far better.

    Im with raging spork. Im full against safe havens. But on a hub like island with no pvp(aside from friendly duels) or pve or any progression, i could see this working.

    This game is crying out for a social hub it definitely should be in the game even better if they put it in 3rd person so you can see all the stuff you've bought this is a great idea

    We need pirate pub games maybe poker we're you can bet your gold the options for it are big there could be lots of stuff to do when you just want to chill or mess about with your crew

    I like the 'find a crew to sail with' aspect, especially as a solo player

    If it were as good as it sounds like it can be, then I wonder if anybody would leave the place.

    If Rare actually sees this post I hope they strongly consider it. They could do so much with this idea and at the same time not touch the actual gameplay so it wouldn’t throw anything off balance

    If they don't go ahead and make a safe zone - Which is whatever either way.

    I wish at the very least they'd add more merchants/harbormasters to Golden Sands. Then we'd have the ability to create and police one ourselves.

    I like this idea as well. You've done a good job of avoiding the usual arguments of PVP vs PVE and given us a social hub that the game surely needs. I like the mini game idea and also how you can just randomly port into the world with your crew to avoid any spawn camping issues. I hope Rare reads this one!

    I like your ideas and your hub idea is exactly what i was thinking of just not in game just a separate server to load into

    There already is a safe haven in Sea of Thieves. It's the exit game option 😂

    @crested-soul I thought of this too! This would be awesome! I thought that there could also be some dungeons on there that you need to team up with others to complete. Events would also be cool.
