I think this might help with the problem with campers around the skeleton forts who are there to hijack the loot after others do the work (and tend to be low on supplies at the end). If you spot a ship coming in you could just grab the key and go, then have somebody jump off at an outpost to sell it (i actually let a key go in the middle of the pcean today to prevent a camper from getting it). Take away the rewards for camping and the problem of this particular brand of griefing will likely diminish. My suggestion would be a sale value of 1/3 to 50% of the loot value in the fort. Should an alliance system be implemented as hinted by rare, keys won by allied attacks perhaps should not be sellable.
Make Skeleton fort keys sellable (for anti fort camping).
EH @inquisitor-ext I hear you. I wonder if creating some sort of protective talisman you can claim as the first one to the fort with the towers becoming seriously op against late arriving boats (and the later in the fight the more op the towers become). Perhaps that talisman could give a bit more boat speed for a short duration after leaving the fort to help get away.
