It's possible to become "legend" playing SOLO?

  • Hi, just wondering if this can be achieved in some time? Because I like play only solo, for me is more fun because my stupid friends don't bought the game and my spoken language is Spanish, so playing with people that is hard to communicate is very frustrating so I play solo... BUT, when I play a voyage with 4 player, or take down a fortress, the gold and rep we get in one hour is extremely different to the gold and rep I get in one hour of playing solo. This for me is not fair, I think the gold /rep for selling a chest in solo has to be more valuable than playing with four players, for know playing solo is just for getting fun, I don't feel the progress I felt playing in squad

  • The game definitely supports solo, but it is the least efficient way to play. Important note, efficiency does not equate to fun, although they are probably correlated somewhat.

Since the amount of reputation/number of turn-ins needed to reach Pirate Legend is finite... Yes, of course it is possible to become Pirate Legend while solo.

It will just take a very long time, especially compared to efficient duos or full galleons.

But hey, if you do make it, Rare owes you an Award for Unimaginable Patience in a gilded mahogany frame.

  • @daneldanel I sometimes feel that I make more gold solo than I do with my friends, in the time it takes do a skull fort you can easily gain comparable gold solo with a little focus and determination.

Playing with friends however is a lot of fun, but if you're talking pure gold gain that fun can sometimes be a distraction.

  • anything is possible with enough time. it will probably take you a LOT longer than you would working with a crew... but you can do the same missions and earn XP in solo the same as in crew. Once you get up around level 30 the missions are much longer with more steps to complete so doing them solo takes longer.

unfortunately solo means you are much more likely to get raided since you have to leave your ship unattended at island when doing a quest, or even on the seas it is pretty much a given that galleons pick on sloops.

I suggest you use either the Xbox "looking for group" feature to find other spanish-speaking players wanting to play together, or here on this site in the Community forum there is a "find a crew" section where you could post looking for people to friend up with and sail together. The game is really much more fun and tolerable when in a crew

  • It is possible to get legend playing solo, but significantly harder. Rare has said before that while this game can be played alone, it was designed to be played with 2 or more, and is going to be faster and easier in a party.

If spoken communication is an issue, try using pirate speak, which is automatically translated to each players language.

  • For example, a big island with 6 points for take chest, one player can be in here maybe one hour finding those chest and looting ... 4 players can find the 6 chest in 5 minutes and go to the next island... The time invested must be more rewarded

  • You'll get there, but it will take a long time. I've played solo for a couple of hours most days since launch and I'm only up to around level 15 in the 3 guilds. That could just be because I'm particularly slow and inefficient though.

  • @daneldanel Is is possible? Yes, it very much is. It just takes time and effort. This game promotes Multiplayer the gold and the rep is much better with 4 players because you have the potential for 4 times the missions and an opportunity for 4 times the loot. You can also solo a skeleton fortress, but it is much more difficult and you need to watch your back.

So while I do think you can do it, it will take a while. Do I think that Solo mode needs to get more since you are playing solo? NO. They even say when you are doing a solo sloop that this is a "Hard Mode."

I don't think anyone should be punished for playing with a crew or being solo and any change to offerings would make this happen.

  • @cmdrllama This is currently my goal. Since release I have played solo and currently rank 17/15/21, and yes its taking a very long time. Alas I am still having a blast with the game.

  • Thanks all for your answers, now is more clear to me... I'm gonna try to find players in my spoken language in the forum or in the group section on the Xbox, because when I finally get legend in solo, RARE gonna announce sea of thieves 2 for new generation consoles

Cue players shouting "Yaaar me hearties!" down the mic and wondering why it isn't being correctly translated into Swahili 😂

Theoretically possible, yes. Practically? No. The OoS voyages will destroy you.
