Right now I know that the game is being tested even though it is post launch, with only a Rep grind and no real progression as of yet. I hope to give or receive feedback with ideas or answers from either the community or employees of rare. With Sea of Thieves being such a unique and amazing concept I have to say I am quite underwhelmed with how the game is at the moment. The game feels like it is catering to casual players. Players who just want to hop on from time to time and have fun. I am not a hardcore player yet I do not consider myself casual. I just prefer something to work towards and be proud of other than a Cosmetic Item. I really wanted this to be more of a pirate survival game rather than a arcade pirate ship battle game. Games like Blackwake already have the ship combat for the arcade purposes down. Yet Sea of Thieves is supposed to add more to the pirate genre.
Open world navigation, progression, maybe classes, roles, and more. Add skills you can level, skills like, Strength (for melee) and Agility (for gun accuracy or damage.) Make the actual pirate you are playing as something unique and something you can be proud of. Maybe even pirate classes. Sharpshooter, Swordsman, and more that can have unique skill shot abilities. With unique utilities that can help on land and sea.
With ships maybe the more you play you can upgrade your ship. Use the rep system to integrate new ship types. To be truly immersed into a pirate world a pirate needs a ship he can be proud of and can fit their certain play style. In my late teens I watched Jack Sparrow and his crew on the Black Pearl, a ship that the crew and captains we're proud of.
A Quest system that can make the player truly feel immersed into the universe the dev's are trying to hard to create. Right now there is griefing and toxicity because there is nothing players can work towards to occupy themselves with. There are PvP and PvE players, and with a game this ambitious there needs to be balance. Division with the dark zone, same with RuneScape, World of Warcraft has PvP servers and Battle grounds. Right now there is nothing but the Sea and players wanting to be entertained and they in turn are needlessly killing one another.
I really hope a lot of the content and balancing issues can be fixed because this is a game I really want to play and enjoy. Right now it feels like there is nothing to enjoy other than open world PvP and exploring. I can't help but to attack a player ship when sailing around because I want to spice things up.
