A Sea of Disappointment, A Sea of Boredom

  • Sea of Thieves is a game with no content filled with blind fanboys that tell people "to make your own fun", the game is irredeemable, I mean how are people even into playing such a barren, tedious and repetitive game?

The game is so shallow. It is not even the least bit engaging, no story, pointless PvP, pointless progression, dead open world and utterly terrible combat gameplay. Nothing in this game is engaging in itself and relies solely on talking to your teammates, that isn't enough, it's the game that is supposed to engage us not the people. I can do that anytime I want for free.

Seriously, are people blind as to how empty, shallow and pointless this game is? It's so boring and there's no point in doing quests either since I can just grind out skeleton forts and gain enormous amounts of gold and XP (except for the merchant guild). PvP is utterly pointless, no rewards, I have nothing to gain.

You fanboys are delusional if you think playing this game is any fun, it demands zero engagement from the side of the player and has a cycle that is so terribly repetitive and tedious, such a poorly thought out game loop design, also the XP throttle is real after level 20.

Also, what are your levels on each guild?

    • Moans about the game.
    • Insults player base.
    • Asks for forum engagement.

If you don't like the game then that's a shame but there's no need to insult those that enjoy it.

Just uninstall and leave quietly. Thanks.

  • A pointless topic, An already formulated position.

Thanks for stopping by, we get it. You don't like the game...
I'm sure you can try and get a refund or something, Maybe you used game pass, w/e.

But what's the point of this post?
Other than to trash talk and attempt to rile people up / insult those that are quite happy with their purchase so far and are having fun.

Does other people's enjoyment bother you so much?
Why not just go play something you enjoy instead.. As this post offers no constructive feedback or criticism.
    No suggestions for improvement.
    Nothing helpful.

  • People bored with this just aren't having the experience I am. Literally an hour ago we had 4 galleon fights, and were being chased by a 5th. It got attacked by the Kraken and we spun around and pulled up and helped the Kraken sink it. It was insane. Lighting was flashing over head during the battle. It was the most epic gaming moment I've had in a long time.

Then other say nothing happens and it's boring.

  • @arnavmode248164 the game is clearly not for you. I’ve been having a blast this whole time since release. Uninstall in instead of acting toxic on the forums.

As for,”well I already payed for the game or want a refund”, well that’s your problem mate. You should’ve done research until you bought it.

  • Another post like this!!

Why didn't you just get the game pass and try it first?
Its not for everyone but no need to come down on the people who like/love the game.

  • @arnavmode248164 you clearly have no pirate in you what so ever and thats fine because you can always go back to call of duty and stay there

  • @arnavmode248164 It's funny, how different humans can have different opinions on something and get along without calling the others delusional fanboys. You should give it a shot, sometime, man.

Nobody here, or anywhere, is forcing you to play the game if you dislike it, and we all wish you the best of luck in finding a game that suits your tastes better.

  • I remember when Minecraft came out. It was nothing. A couple trees, dirt, and stone and that was it. No multiplayer, no lava, no animals, redstone, rails, food, etc. etc. Now? It's one of the top games on every platform.

The game has been out for not even a week. It's just a little baby right now, can't even walk yet the poor thing. Kicking it in its infancy will only hurt it more when it matures. Give it time.

  • @arnavmode248164 I really love those post, for me the game is fun, i have fun playing it and i will keep play as long i will have fun. That the point of a game for me HAVE FUN. I dont need levels, the super duper shotgun of the hell and similar. If you don't have fun with it plenty of other games out there 👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻

  • @arnavmode248164
Go play something else then it’s not that hard.

  • Perhaps the post was aimed at the devs? I can't really argue with anything stated if I'm honest. I'd like to see some kind of road map for what the devs plan to do with this game because I do feel I've been ripped off. The content is poor and the grind pointless. Combat mediocre. There HAS to be more coming or the game will be dead inside a few months. I hope there is more coming as the concept is very good, but as it is £50 is a rip-off imo.

  • You have good points mixed into your rant and lots of people agree with them the open world is lifeless, the 3 reps get repetitive fast and once you have done a fort or two then you basically have seen all the game has to offer.

Now what I disagree with is you saying the game is not fun as its lots of fun as long as you play with friends or people that just want to have silly fun! this is not a hardcore PVP game like fortnight or COD and never will be and never should be so PVP should never have rewards unless they make pvp optional.

I agree with progression feeling pointless too this is thanks to all the rewards or items being cosmetic as lets face it once you have the things you like and done the above there is not much left to do...

Also the rep levels just unlock longer missions with better rewards and more cosmetics so same thing as level 1 missions just longer...

I will keep saying this... This game should never have been released as a retail game! it should of been released on game pass only and people told its bare bones and content will be added as its developed just like an early access game.

  • Just a little insight for people wondering why people leave negative posts about the game.
generally it could part of them likes it or what it could be but it fails to be that atm and has some issues.

  • @cptncuttlefish Minecraft was developed by one person...I fail to see your comparison.

  • OP - books are boring, why read a bunch of words put together in a particular order when I could just go to an online dictionary and read all the words in alphabetical order.

  • @arnavmode248164 It would seem that perhaps this is not the game you're looking for.

Thanks for insulting those who are finding enjoyment in it. I'll be sticking to my "delusions".

  • @kashaarafall Minecraft started as nothing and became something far larger than it ever dreamed. Gotta give a baby time to grow.

  • @cptncuttlefish As I told you in another post, minecrft was developed by one person who had a dream and the dream grew with community interaction and ideas because he listened. Despite going against some of his own visions. He eventually sold it off and made a boat load of cash, but still develops on it.

So, if you're telling people to wait for RARE to develop a game and make it grow and using the comparison of minecraft, then I suggest you contact rare and knock the team down to one because Minecraft wasn't 60 dollars at the start, did not have microtransacitons(coming) and the barebones content was fixed by allowing people to craft aka make their own adventures.

  • @kashaarafall Why would I gimp a company and limit what they can do? You're right, Minecraft wasn't 60 dollars, it used to be free, but now they charge you (albeit for half the price). Minecraft does have microtransactions. And how long did the barebones content take to get fixed with adventures? Was it immediately, because people are making their own sailing adventures as we type.

  • @cptncuttlefish Minecraft was not free at launch, infact, it was around 15 dollars for the beta, basically an EA price and it rose to 25 after launch. The beta was infact barebones and had quite a bit of things to do inside of those barebones. That is why the game was so popular.

The microtransactions it may or may not have right now were not there during the game's initial release. IF you're using a comparison of a game's infancy, vs what it is now, then this conversation won't make much sense. RARE released a game as a barebones sandbox game where people are spouting "Form your own adventure." which I am fine with. What you don't seem to understand however, is why would someone pay 60 dollars for a game that is going to get micros in the future and has little to do outside of trolling random people or doing copy paste quests?

As I stated, you can't compare minecraft developed by 1 person to sea of thieves, which is likely a large development team+has the funding from microsoft and still produces a barebones experience.

  • @cptncuttlefish Minecraft was discounted and was in early access (before that was even a real thing). When the game officially released it was a very feature rich game.

Sea of Thieves is $60 and is fully released.

  • awesome another one of these. Just because some people like the game doesnt make them "blind fanboys". Its not that there is zero merit in some of the points you are trying to illustrate. I dont agree with many of them, but some could be argued I guess. But when you try and insult others that dont share your opinion, you end up sounding like one of those crazy people on the internet discussing politics or some such thing, that really cant defend their position so instead they attack others that dont share it and try and form a mob. All I can think of when I see this type of behavior is... El D****e.

  • Walks into butcher store.
    Criticizes everyone who likes meat.
Rages on about how he hates meat.
Informs everyone about how bad meat is.

If you don't like meat then why are you in the butcher store in the first place?

    OP makes no sense.

  • @kashaarafall What did it have to do in those barebones? Stack a block on top of another? Where's the fun in that? Might as well be it's own copy past fetch quest that you mention in your second paragraph.

You're right, the microtransactions weren't there at first, but now they are. This game doesn't have microtransactions on release either, but it will after a few months. As to why we paid 60 dollars for this game, is because that's what Microsoft said it was worth. Is it? That's based on opinion.

And yes you can compare. It's not how many developed it, it's how they progress through their lifetimes.

  • Its ok mate. alot of posters are posting this stuff. Everyone is judging on day 2 already. they will add waaaaaay more than what a lot of people are expecting. hopefully you can find more good in it. enjoy!

I like meat, however I take issue at being served wafer thin ham and being told it's a prime steak and told I should shut up complaining when I point out it isn't very good.

  • @cptncuttlefish You built, just as you do now. More things were added over time, but the justifiable pricetag is what brought players in. 15 dollars to craft and I do mean craft your own adventure. Fully moddable if you knew javascript and customizable avatars. That's what there was to do in barebones.

Tack on another 45 dollars and you have sea of thieves, which as I've stated countless times, has a wonderful core. It's design choice of things to do is fine, but there needs to be variety, rewards or risks for people wanting to do them. As of right now, the game is like standing in a real sand box with a rubber padding. They want you to have fun, but not to much of it and certainly not enough to hurt yourself. I also read about the gold punishment for dying to anything but a player, which only solidifies what I just said.

  • @arnavmode248164 The game is a ton of fun. Probably sunk 15 hours in an enjoying every second. Mind you they really really need to add more content. No one is denying that but let's not jump on the hate bandwagon.

  • @kashaarafall All I'm saying is give it time. Let RARE work out the bugs and then start adding all the goodies. People have datamined so interesting things, we just gotta give them more than a week or two to get the ball rolling.

I absolutely agree with the gold though.

  • Yes its pretty shallow. That was pretty apparent from the get-go tbh. However different people enjoy things in different ways. Not sure why you feel the need to insult and belittle people who dont play the game in the exact same manner you do.

At this juncture, you're sitting there screeching "MY FUNS BETTER THAN YOUR FUN AND YOU'RE A MORON IF YOU THINK OTHERWISE" which, honestly, makes it very difficult for me to find any sympathy for you, however legitimate your gripe with the game is.

    Manners cost nothing.

  • @cptncuttlefish I have no issue with RARE working out the things and adding content. The problem is when you release a game at 60 dollars 50-60 whatever the price is. People will expect more than what was offered. You had 2 ship varieties, why I dunno, design choice I guess? This creates everyone using the same types of ships, which of course does not make for a unique experience.

There are preferred ship types of pirates, one of which being a schooner, but is mysteriously missing...but hey, not gonna argue there. The clothes, the quest variety, the resused assets, the enemy variety, all of it boils down to one things, design laziness. Artistically, the game is lovely, so well done and uses the UE4 engine well. Game design choice though? Well...that's another story.

  • the lake needs more life and is not dangerous enough .....
but the developers do that ;-)

  • @arnavmode248164 what makes me blinder than you ? Why would you not be the one who is blind because you can't see how fun the game is ?

That's not because the game isn't for you that the game sucks. Deal with it.
