So I have been playing for a little while on single player and I realized I've been sailing under a white flag! I dont know how others feel about this but I want to be feared as I travel the Sea of Thieves. Perhaps you could add a way to create custom pirate flags in a future update maybe, please.
What Pirate Sails Under a White Flag!
I guess everyone has to start somewhere.
You can buy ship customisation items at one of the vendors which includes different sails.
I like the idea of being able to design your own but if they were to implement that I imagine it's something they would want players to have to earn, for obvious reasons they would also need to have a robust system for flagging inappropriate designs.

Does the ship vendor have flag options though?
From what I recall (at work now so I can't check) the Ship Customization vendor only had galleon figures, painted hulls and colored sails with patterns.
I didn't see specific flags among the options.
Anyone who can confirm whether or not you can purchase flags independently or do the flag color/pattern come as part of purchasing the sail?

Why not do like in Fortnite (and other games) where you can customize your banner/icon by combining different colors and icons together based on a premade list of icons and colors available to you?
As far as the flags go in this game that would mean:
- Background color (e.g. black, white, yellow)
- Background pattern (e.g. stylish frames or outlines)
- Background pattern color
- Primary icon / image on the flag
- Icon color
Even if you only have 10 choices for each of those 5 variations you would have 10^5 possible variations = 100,000 different flags.
More than enough variations to make your own flag pretty unique :)
(I think I did the math right... 5 choices, 10 options in each would be 10x10x10x10x10 = 10^5 ... right?)

@ghroznak I think the flag changes to match the sail design. Sure that was the case in the Beta although haven't earned enough gold to try it in the full release.
I heard from another thread that this is not possible anymore in the full game with is really sad. It would be awesome if they somehow make an editor like in black ops 2 or if this is to hard (programming and flagging inappropriate stuff) than like others said, the Fortnite solution. Since we all are Pirates we need a Skullamd Bones Flag but more diverse. If you don't k ow what I mean just look at One Piece how they managed to make allot of cool Flags.
