Slap in the face from Rare

    So one of my buddies recently showed off his email for the special "Founders" sails. This p****d me off so much I considered getting a refund for the game.

    The whole progression system in this game is customization, only now pretty much all of the players will always be missing that one thing because they weren't lucky enough to get invited.

    I played the betas and stress/scale tests with some friends and even helped find some bugs. (Hole in ground on Mermaid's Hideaway)(Tested different voice options between pc and Xbox looking for the cause of voice issues). This really bothers me, that people myself included, played and tested the game more than some of these founders and now they'll always have this item to lord over us. It feels like a slap in the face to me.

    Maybe they'll release something for the testers as well, but the same complaint can be said about those who missed out on the mixer skin, the preorder bonus, the controler, and the external hardrive. This happens in most games, especially with events.

    Not sure how it's a slap in the face... They've been helping test out the game for over a year now. I also understand that almost everyone that signed up for the insider program prior to November got in. It's not even that big of a deal.. Really you're willing to not play the game over a sail?

    i have not gotten a mail or a sail for being a founder ... O.o does not really matter

    @greencamillion1 had to search my mails .. but yea i got that mail... Anyway i really dont care allot about it .. Its a nice extra gift .. but its only cosmetical ... bragging rights .. do i need it ? nope .. do you need it ? i dont really think so :P . Honestly there are allot bigger issues then this that needs addressing

    @zakarus Besides that it's not like anyone has been using them considering we don't actually have them yet. It said 2 weeks I believe so nobody is missing out on anything.

    If you’re not a founder you don’t get a founder item, that’s pretty simple to understand. Nobody will be looking at those sails saying “they have end game cosmetics”, unless you’ve purchased every ingame item, gotten the ferry set, the black dog set, the ebony pistol, and the midnight or whatever it’s called blunderbuss, then I don’t see why you’re complaining. Do you really think people 2 months from now will be complaining that you and I got the day 1 patch? Come on lol

    In a year there's probably going to be so many customization options it won't even matter. People care far too much about the tiniest of things right now lol I'm sorry you didn't get anything but didn't you do what you did to help a cool game along? or did you just do it for rewards

    Yes, I agree with you, It's unfair that people that got lucky enough to play in the alpha will get an exclusive sail dedicated to them.

    But, We can't have everything that every other person has.
    Just be happy with what you have matey.
    I think it's nice for them to give something to the people that tested their game, Having something that other people cant have isn't the end of the world matey, There are plenty of cosmetics to get throughout the game and also there's booty that you can get tomorrow.

    Gonna be honest, I wouldn’t mind the exclusives if they weren’t so beautiful compared to all the other loot currently in the game. I get it. You want those players to get something nice to use that they don’t feel like they will just replace instantly because it’s ugly, but I’m gonna be completely honest. The ferryman weapons that were just released make the rest of the weapons in the game look like a 1/10 in comparison. I don’t mind exclusives if the other loot that required level 50 rep was comparable in cool piratey goodness, but as it stands right now the exclusives are leagues ahead of the other loot.

    Actually if you were an insider,you'd still get an invite signing you up for 31 of 2017 effectively giving you a founder title.

    So.....you're mad because you don't get to have a special sail....that does absolutely nothing game-wise, except for cosmetics.....and you want a refund because you didn't get one?

    The founders were there from day 1. Were you? I wasn't, but you don't see me crying about a sail. THIS is what made you so upset that you want a refund? Over a friggin' sail?!?

    Sorry ... it's just a cosmetic. Lots of games have exclusive ones for Founders, or cosmetics or titles for people that did event 'X' that no one else has the opportunity to get. If it is just a graphic I don't have any issue with it.

    It's not only that. We have to wait for 2 WEEKS for the Founder Sails. By then everyone has already gotten better and cooler sails. They should have been there on day 1.

    From a slightly different perspective: The founders, myself included, spent a very long time playing, testing, and breaking this game. During this time, we earned an enormous amount of gold with, in some phases, little to nothing to spend it on. Also during this time, everything we bought and all gold we earned got reset multiple times. We accepted this as part of the balancing and testing period. That Rare is providing us an optional sail skin, possibly saving us 75k gold in game that we can spend on something else, is actually a really nice gesture which was in no way expected or required by us.

    This. There was even another group, The Pioneers, which @DocLancer is a part of. They tested future builds of the game that Founders did not. I hope that the Pioneers get something special too, because they earned it.

    You had all of 2017 to join the Insider program. You can only blame yourself for not getting the Founder status. There have been many times where it was publicly announced, E3 last year especially.

    I missed the Ebon Flintlock, and I'll probably miss it tomorrow because I work during the time that the stream is on. Is it a blow, yes, but it will not change my mind on SoT as a whole.

    I've been a part of the alphas and betas. I played the game and helped with feedback and testing. Being founder doesn't matter to me, getting a sail doesn't matter to me. I play this game because I love it. Even considering not playing, and then whining because you don't get something you didn't earn is just sad. Stop acting like a toddler. Either your a founder or you aren't, it's a way for them to show gratitude for players who have stuck with them through all the play tests. If you can't handle it, that's fine. Your like a child at someone else's birthday party crying over not getting a present. Grow up.

    Have you ever actually been slapped in the face? I have.

    It didn't feel much like when somebody gets an exclusive cosmetic I didn't get.

    The fact that this guy got 5 upvotes worries me. What the actual hell. You want to get a refund because people who were here months or years before you got something little extra for their investment and trust? You know what? Get it. Get it and go play something else. I'd give my founders sail in a heartbeat just to save myself from reading selfish posts like this.

    Just got my email last night and I don't even have the game right now,lol. But I have put plenty of hours into testing and bug reporting, plus I have a potato PC so my feedback was invaluable to making sure the game lived up to the claim that "It can run on a potato" as well. So yes, its nice to be rewarded for that, but everyone playing now will be rewarded with some Day 1 items as well, and people who pre-ordered the game have exclusive items too so I think that is fair. You can sail with me anytime by the way, I'm a pirate but I'm the good kind lol!

    Founders got these items as they have been helping since before the Scale tests and Betas, They weren't 'Invited' so to speak, They signed up for the Insiders Program before December 1st 2017, And left a LOT of feedback to help the SoT community grow.
    This sail was given to them as a Thanks for sticking around and supporting, not as a You're better than everyone else.

    This isn't a slap in the face as such from Rare, But more of a reward for those who joined early on and gave feedback and support throughout the early stages of the game. ;)

    I didn’t even know the day 1 eye patch was a exclusive thing and didn’t even know the founders sails were a thing I was just in the shop and just bought it because it was cheap but I sorta agree I feel slapped In the face with stupidity because I could have gotten thiese sails this only my perspective on this
