final features

  • So, i haven't visited the forums in a long time, but now im back. Now in this post i wanted to list things i think should be fixed/put in before the game launches, at least that was the idea. I realize that i made this post way too late and that most of this stuff will not be able to make it into the launch version, so most of this stuff is for the first patch (whenever that is).

    I'll first list of some of the biggest prime stuff i think are the top priorities:
    -Sword combat: im oing to make a post on this later, because its one of the biggest issues i have with this game. In a nutsheel: its too spammy and doesn't feel right
    -There is not enough to do underwater: now above the water there is no shortcoming of stuff to do, but underwater its another story. There is so much potential here, and at the moment its just not capitalized on. at the moment you can find golden items and such, which are worth a little gold. but they arent really worth searching for. the entire ocean also looks the same, kelp and fish at islands, endless blue at sea. There are wrecks in the world, which are really good, but thats kinda all. What can be done is making it more interesting to explore: have reefs, sea creatures of all kinds, special shipwrecks at the bottom of the ocean. This can also be explored in quests: finding a sunken chest for the gold hoarders just on the bottom or in a wreck, fight a cursed skeleton crew underwater for the order of souls (maybe even in a cursed ship that has breathable areas), or get some special fish for the merchant Alliance.
    -More custemization sets: this one is pretty self-explainatory, just more sets. In the beta we had 4 sets of everything and ike 20 different leveled versions with more gold on them. we should have more hats, hooks, jackets. You can have a triangular hat like Jack Sparrow, and bassicly any hat from Pirates of the Caribean.
    -A six man ship: i personally think a six man Man-o-war would be great. Just a larger ship with 4 floors for more defense, six cannons (would be cool to have cannons on the middle deck) and 4 masts with large sails. it could be balanced by having very low turning speed, and only being the fastest when all sails catch full wind.
    -A better pirate selection screen: people agree and disagree with the IPG (infinite Pirate Generator) and i think there could be a better option: having a filter system. That way you can have all the models stil be there, but people can select stuff like skin colour, length, how fat the pirate is, and hair color.

    now the next thing are just small things i want to talk about
    -The pistol: the pistol is very underused, this is because its decent at all situations, which is nice. but the other guns are better at their own range, the musket is way better at long range and the blunderbuss is way better at close range. now you can just equip the gun for the range your gonna be fighting on, also 70% of the fights happen at close range do the blunderbuss is the go to. you could also make the pistol its own weapon, being for a faster playstyle. Make it so that the pistol reloads faster, Aim down the sights faster, and the coolest idea would be to be able to aim and fire the pistol while sprinting. this would give the pistol its own playstyle
    -burning wrecks: this is just a little idea, but id like to see a feature added where if a ship sinks by anything combat related (gunpowder barrels, cannons) the wreck should have an explosion, where it catches on fire and break down. You could have it half sink and stuff but the thing is. that people will be able to see that an ship has been sunk there by another crew or skeletons, the gameplay part of this would be that any and all cargo shou start to float around the burning left over, this would include: chests, gunpowder, resource barels and maybe even recources themselfes if a barrel has been smashed by the explosions, skulls, cages and animals, ammo boxes. This would make it so after sinking a ship you could go pick up the loot, but whatch out for the remaining crew. The wrecks should also attract Sharks, so that in a minute or 2 its swarming with them. giving picking up loot a risk. I dont know how many people know this but as of now, a ship Always has a white flag, unless they sank a ship, then it becomes black. so the system to register a sunken ship is in place.
    -Naming a ship: this should actually a launch thing, come on, i was very suprised to see it stil wasen't in the game, you already have the beautiful sign above the door to the captains quarters, completely empty. and on Schipwreck bay, the shipwreck actually has a name on that sign. I'm sure there also is enough room on the back of the ship. Just give it to us.

  • @shootergamingnu Pretty sure naming a ship is in. There's plaques above the Captain's quarters in some of the latest videos/screens. It wasn't in the beta, but I'll be surprised if it's not there at launch. Somethings have to remain a surprise.

    Haha, sorry, I missed it. Kind of a wall of text there. :)

    I only noticed them in recent play and videos, but I probably just wasn't looking for it originally.
