Sword Dash swim trick!

I saw a trick and learned how to do that, here is the thing:
When you do the dash attack with the sword in the land or in your ship then you immediately falls in the sea you will swim very very fast for a few seconds. So this is a glitch or is this intentional?
I think it is really cool and useful!
