I've only found like 3 different ships myself during my 7hour play through. 2 were sloops and 1 was a galleon. i managed to make friends with one sloop and the galleon. me and my brief galleon friends played the last 45 mins of the beta and we ended our wonderful relationship by sailing off towards the edge of the map. we drank some grog, threw up all over each other and we played some tunes. it was an emotional goodbye as we sank into the blood red ocean and we all drowned together.
so how did everyone end the stress test beta?
@jarofpeachz we spent the last half an hour playing cat and mouse with another 2 man sloop after we stole their treasure and sank their ship. They put up a good fight but i dropped the anchor in a risky move to make them crash in to us and they sank again. Then we sailed off and scuttled our boat 'cause we'd never seen it before. It was awesome.
Playing solo sloop, I had engaged a two-person sloop anchored at an island. I peppered them with cannonfire, and received one shot in return. Raced to the hold to quickly patch, then handbrake turned and came around for another run. Was just about to finish the ship off, and was prepared for boarding by one them in the water when I got one-shotted by a cannonball to the face and that was that.

Was it a green-ish sloop vs. a red sloop with white sails? And if your sloop was black, then it was me and that one who pursued me all over the map :D My first ever pvp battle as well and it was tons of fun!
I ended my journey yesterday after this sloop battle. Sailed off to a random island, played my hurdy gurdy and watched the sun set behind my sloop before logging off. I miss it already and can't wait for the next scale test/beta they're running.
ended the HOURS and HOOOOURS of non stop domination waving good bye to you all. Too bad the thousands of gold I had on me wont carry over. shoulda bought a outfit haha. too busy having fun. That little black beauty in the pic survived over 7 hrs and we sank too many galleys to count.
Its good to read everyone talking about the fun they had. The complaints are a b****r, tho I had a few bad times due to a*****s. a*****s are everywhere in life so u just push it aside and move on and focus on being posive.

yeah that was it HAHAHA, i ran out of cannon balls, i was the black sloop.

I had some cannonballs left, but didn't dare to get close to you again as I wasn't sure if you're friendly now or not. And my voice chat got bugged, so I couldn't yell to you and ask if we wanna get drunk at the outpost haha
I sneaked away from battle to secure my captain's chest and stock up on cannon balls :P

Got to the beta only on second day when was abble to get not glitching acc with game :D have a tons of fun played solo, duo and 4 ppl - each time different exp from quests and voyages.
Get sunk only once on a sloop solo vs. 2 guys sloop but then sunk them twice :D they was so p****d of
Will buy this game 100% can't wait for march 20

@jarofpeachz i was asleep T.T i thought the stress test was lasting one more day so i went to bed early so i could wake up early and play more SoT and then i was sad....
@star-inferno22 I generally am friendly, as a solo i tend to avoid as many ships as possible. i thought that the servers were going to close in less than 15 or so minutes ill engage in some combat for once and see if my aims up to scratch.
@marine4121 My friends all said they'd join me once the game comes out, so I was solo'ing. I only got into that combat as the red sloop followed me across the map and I just felt like a good sea battle. It was super fun! Those fights on the sea are way more fun than on land, and easier to pull off for me.
Otherwise, I'm paranoid whenever I spot another ship in the distance haha
