Buy SoT with MS ID or Xbox ID?

    Hey guys

    I'm hanging out for SoT (on PC) but I have a question regarding which ID to purchase it with.

    I have a Microsoft ID that I use to log in to my Windows 10 PC, I also have an Xbox ID that has all my old 360 games attached to. I was thinking I'd buy it through my Xbox ID to reatain my gamertag and stats but didn't want to run into potential bad UX down the road by having a separate login to my PC's MS ID (maybe it restricts background downloads/updates, party functionality etc?).

    Does anyone know how it'll work? Would it be easier/more convenient to use my MS ID over the XBox ID?

    Normally the MS ID and Xbox ID is the same. I think... i’m not sure anymore hahaha.

    It is. Doesn't matter what platform you buy it on as they are linked.

    Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear enough. The two accounts are completely separate. Not tied in any way and if my Googling is of any worth it seems linking an existing Xbox ID with and existing MS ID is not possible.

    Does that change your thoughts?

    @goonawarra Maybe contact Microsoft support and see if they can link the two accounts?

    it is easier to share a game on xbox than pc though ultimatly can be done on either. so, my advise is log in to your xbox using your ms account and set is as the home xbox. this means any games on that account are available to all ie sea of thieves.

    tbh i dont get why you use 2? the old games on thd xbox account can be played on the new account if set as home.

    also you can play with a friend on your xbox you on pc same game diff accounts :)

    I had an XB ID from when the 360 came out and then when I got Windows 10 I needed a MS ID so I made one for that, not knowing that an XB ID would suffice.

    I might try this but I've read in other MS support threads that they don't do this. :(

    @goonawarra my point is that when you created the new account you could of just added the old one to your xbox and access the library witg the new one. but also that, an ms account is an ms account, so didnt need a new one. i used same account since 1998ish before xbox was even an idea and used through all 3 generations and on pc.
