Amount of player per server

  • will the amount of player per server stay as it is?. You should make server for three sails and one sails because the pvp is sometime non-existent.

  • @jack0n333 I will imagine that if the map stay as it is also the number of player per server will not change. Is true that sometime you can spend quite a lot of time without encounter any other sheep, other times you find them everywhere. Keep also in mind that not all the players want just pvp. As was during the beta felt just right to me.

    I saw on the Microsoft store that it noted 2-99 players. That could mean 2-99 per shared server.

    Usually they use the "99+" as a placeholder for MMO-style games. There definitely won't be 99-player shards, just saying. We'll most likely see between 12-20 people per server max.

    I think adding all different crew sizes to one server is fine, coming from someone who mostly played the beta single or duo crewing.

    It allows for a certain level of anticipation when sailing around.

    As for pvp being non-existent, I find the community to be at one extreme or the other on this. Some state that they did not running to another person for days, while others state they could not get a moments piece from pvp.

    From my own personal experience, I find the risk of pvp interactions on servers to adequate for those looking to do pve with just a touch of pvp from time to time.

  • @jack0n333 In the beta, I mostly played solo. My favorite thing to do was to sneak on galleons and throw their treasures over board. Don't take this from me!

    This recent article might shed a bit of light around numbers of ships per server. It will not be 100, or 99.

    Rare have said several times that they want encounters to be an 'occasion' and that Sea of Thieves is not a 'boating lake'.

    'Lots of #SeaOfThieves articles popping up, hard to keep up but noticing a few saying 100 players in the world – this is incorrect – we think of Sea of Thieves as a coop adventure where you encounter other players in the world, encounter frequency and variety is what is magic about Sea of Thieves.'

  • Do we know whether there is currently, or will ever be a way to view the player count within each server? I keep loading into servers and will spend hours sailing about looking for others with absolutely no luck. Would love a way to check the count once I load in to make sure I'm not in a desolate server. That happens in GTA too and it gets lonely :(
