Micro transactions. What cosmetic would you pay for?

    THIS THREAD IS NOT TO DISCUSS THE GOOD OR BAD OF MICRO TRANSACTIONS. Please take those discussions to the other threads on the topic.

    What I want to discuss, is what would you buy in SoT if it was offered? I am not as well versed in mainstream pirate knick knacks, but something I would definitely pay money for is this:

    Parrot From the Caribbean.

    What are some things that you would pay for that have not been shown off? Please include pictures if possible.

    Honestly I don't expect to pay for anything beyond the game. If at some point they release some serious content that I want to thank them for, I'll buy something to thank them.

    Likely nothing. It is cosmetic...so I don't see the point. However, for sake of conversation, a pet or a figurehead for the ship.

    If there are going to be parrots, they should probably have a Kazooie inspired skin for them at least, and probably some Kazooie sound files to go along with it. That'd be some nice fan service or whatever.

    @dhg-ixxrmacxxi $1.99 is a maybe for me, if I am having fun with the game, I would definitely buy it eventually, $0.99 I would buy as soon as I saw it. A chicken strapped to my shoulder is pretty funny. I prefer my transactions to be as micro as possible.

    I'd definitely pay for an awesome figurehead on the ship. I bet they could come up with some cool designs.

    There is a lot of upside for microtransactions on this game.

    1. Vessel enhancements: custom paint, sails, figureheads, captains furnishings, cannon/firing cosmetics,
    2. Sailor enhancements: clothing (custom and seasonal), pets, weapons, instruments, jewelry, tattoos
    3. Social/Game enhancements: keys to unlock special locked chests (lootbox variant), faction/squad designators, fishing items, additional supplies, custom ranking icons,

    First of all, that is a terrible idea. That same kind of greed tanked Star Wars Battlefront 2. Loot boxes are not a good monetization strategy, especially now that they have left a very bad taste in everyone mouths from the whole EA c**p show with SWB 2.

    Second of all, take those kinds of comments to a different thread. This is not what we are talking about in here.

    If I could down vote your post I would.

    A Captaun Ron emote and cosmetic items (mostly the sun tan lotion for the nose and lips).

    I don't understand why people have such an opposition to loot boxes. They have been successful in many titles and can be successful if they are not implemented as a pay-to-play model. I have purchased many loot box packages on console games COD: WW2, Overwatch, etc.

    As long as they are cosmetic enhancements that don't affect your ability to play the game without purchasing them what is the issue? I would purchase loot boxes in this game as long as they are not structured as pay-to-play. If they are cosmetic what is the difference of purchasing a random lootbox of enhancements or an individual purchased cosmetic?

    Whatever I think is cool, we'll just have to wait and see what the plan is. My crew is going to be snake themed so I'm hoping for something well...snake themed.

    If there are a chance to buy double daggers or dual sword wield (just cosmetic, nothing that is better than a normal sword) I'm totally buying it!

    Hadji gear in black. Like a Sinbad, Thief of Bagdad, kinda ninja look, complete with face veil.

    Blonde dreadlocks.

    A pet dog that can stay on the boat, follow on command, bark at skellies and other non-crew pirates, and swim. Preference for Doberman or Black German Shepherd.

    @ivorydoll Why would you want a loot box with random c**p in it, instead of just buying the thing that you want? Imagine that, paying for the thing that you want. Like I said, there are many, many flaws with loot boxes, if you want to hear more, pm me. I do not want to derail the thread any further. We are talking about the kinds of things we want to see in SoT, not how we get those things.

    Your first 2 points were fair in that regard, then you went off the rails with the third point proposing loot boxes. A loot box is not an item to buy, it is a delivery method. You are not going to strap loot boxes to your ship for decoration.

    Black Sails, season 3 episode 8.
    Captains Flint and Vane lead a daytime raid against a stagecoach that has Jack Rackham prisoner. All the pirates are garbed in black, faces veiled, wearing middle eastern style clothing. If you can imagine arab ninja gear with flintlocks and cutlass' its a cool look.

    A pity I can't find a good pic from the episode.

    @cows-n-muffins I would buy a parrot or a monkey for my shoulder, a trail for my character- like mist or magic or fire, and maybe a flaming sword or a barnacle encrusted gun that shoots a watery mist along with the bullet.

    Skins would be cool. Like, make your character look like a ghost, skeleton, mermaid (with legs) body type type thing but still be able to wear all your clothing and stuff overtop.

    Just one of those random little cosmetic changes for fun beyond the initial standard human we create.
