Do you think one of this suggestions would be something for an Update?

  • Sea of Thieves could gain a lot of tactical depth by introducing three specific physical updates. First, adding different hull variants would be a great improvement. Instead of every ship being the same, players could choose between a lighter, faster hull with less health or a heavier, more durable one. This would make the preparation for a session more meaningful, as you have to decide whether you want speed for escaping or toughness for combat.
    A second key point would be a dynamic weight system for loot and supplies. Currently, the amount of treasure has no effect on how a ship sails. If weight affected the ship's draft, a heavily loaded vessel would sail slower and take on water more easily in high waves. This would create a natural risk-versus-reward balance: hoarding massive amounts of gold would make you an easier target, forcing crews to manage their cargo and ship stability more carefully.
    Lastly, ocean currents and realistic wind dynamics would make navigation more challenging. If ships were pushed off course by currents, simply "parking" at an island without an anchor would no longer be as static as it is now. Additionally, the wind shadow of large islands should play a role, causing sails to lose power behind high cliffs. These changes would ensure that maneuvering near coasts or through narrow passages requires much more skill and attention.

  • They are likely never going to introduce ship upgrades like that.

    The weight system has way too many upsides for server hoppers and only downsides to players trying to protect loot.

    Ocean currents might be nice, but I don't think they'd bother with it unless they were static. Dynamic waves are likely too big of a headache in terms of synchronization across clients as well as an increased load on the server to perform the calculations that I don't think will be workable given the current problems.

    All of these suggestions have appeared on the forums before.

    I agree with @D3ADST1CK here. The game is already balanced with ship and crew size, adding this will make it even that much more complicated to balance.

  • @MariusP11 Weight ratios is NOT a topic to discuss. literally anyone would instantly sink with 10 cannonballs and several other types of ammo, not to mention 5 2x4s in their pockets
