Internally please look into the spawn rates in Australia during non peak times and also the percentage of spawns in Oceanica compared to other regions. I have been a reasonably solid player from the creation of Sea of Thieves, a commendation hunter, yet in all my time playing I am yet to encounter the 'myth' of this fish. The only players I speak with that have encountered this have been on international servers, not Australia. I prefer to play early in the day due to my work schedule so Friday and Saturday nights are typically out. I'm unsure on how the spawns occur but if we can look into it that would be great! @captain-knyt there's no need for such comments. It's a legitimate suggestion. I'm at 211d 22h 23m, and not a single ghost siting. Based on these stats and seeing a meg once an hour I dare say that 1/5000 isn't accurate. This suggestion is for Rare. Thanks for understanding.

My crew that I sail with have higher game stats than me and longer hours. They have some technical theories around this (ie servers need to be full etc) however I've left this open for the Rare team as only they know and understand how their algorithym works. Only 1 has encountered the beast and they were playing on US servers with a full server. Here in Australia servers are never full. Half the time when I play I skip servers when diving only to find that there's the same 1 or 2. I test with different coloured lanterns (eg Devils ridge, crooks hollow) which confirms the server amount.
Either way, I'll leave it to the team to decide and see if there's any validity to what I'm suggesting.
I’ve somehow managed to get it twice in my 2500 hours, and both times took place when I had probably under 1700 hours-ish. One time was actually on an Australian server with an Aussie friend, the other was on my native NA West. So I know at least one Aussie with a kill.
I think it’s just incredibly rare and I was incredibly lucky. There are people with insanely high amounts of hours who’ve never seen it 🤷
It could be worse, you could be like me 3000+ hrs, I have two spawns, zero kills.
First one was in a four way ship battle and I was solo slooping and got sunk by one of the galleys before I could land a hit.
Second despawned on me. I have that one recorded...How anyone will ever get to kill five of these.........
1290 hours. Never seen one in-game, except on YT 😂 And these clips are so old that I can't even blame AI lol.
The best thing to do is - do nothing. Just forget about it, and if it happens it happens. Anything other than that is just pointless and unhealthy imo.
My philosophy on this is - some people are just lucky to get a jackpot, even twice. While majority who force it go bankrupt trying to win it over and over again. The sooner you accept it and become casual about it, the easier it gets.
I guess that the size of the SoT playerbase in EU/NA is probably around 20x Australia.
That's why most of the "Hunter of the Shrouded Ghost" titleholders you've met are from outside Australia.As reference for guesstimates:

you think because you play during non-peak hours that means you're less likely to encounter it? I think thats literally just you trying to think of anything to be the reason rather than the simple truth of: its 1/5000.
1/5000 doesn't mean you get it at 5000. I'm a pokemon shiny hunter, you can go like 10 times over odds and its not even something to concern yourself with.
Don't concern yourself with shrouded ghost, nobody counts it towards 100%ing SoT because in that case you would need to kill 5 of them. You don't hunt the Shrouded Ghost it hunts you.

In your year of Sea of Thieves, it shows you your total megs. I'm at 134 kills with no Shrouded Ghost. Of course, this doesn't include all the megs I just let go because I wasn't interested in killing them; I imagine my total megs seen is probably much higher.

Every year they put this out I get annoyed that my miles sailed is still stuck at 7.9M since 2019 or so.
