New gamemodes

  • MODE 1: Burning Dominion
    Type: PvP gamemodes

    Overview:
"Burning Dominion" is a large-scale Pvp event where one team of players takes control of the legendary Burning Blade, supported by an AI skeleton crew. All other ships (up to 3–4) are player-crewed galleons, brigantines, or sloops.

    Only one ship can win.

Burning Blade is overpowered but outnumbered.

Players can form temporary alliances, but betrayal is inevitable.

The map slowly shrinks, forcing conflict over time.

    Core Features:
    Burning Blade (player-controlled) has:

    Increased HP

AI skeleton support (repairing, shooting, )

Special abilities (e.g., firestorm, ghost waves, cursed sails)

    Other crews must decide:

    Fight Burning Blade together

    Or betray each other early

The last surviving ship wins – whether it's the Blade or one of the others.

    Win Conditions:
Burning Blade wins by destroying all other ships.

Another ship wins by being the last one afloat.

    Optional additions:
High gold payout, not cosmetics (to attract experienced PvP players).

Leaderboards or titles for top-performing crews.

Instanced map, not part of main world — like old Arena.

🏴‍☠️ MODE 2: Duel of Fortune
Type: Competitive PvP – Race + Treasure Objective

    Overview:
"Duel of Fortune" is a fast-paced PvP mode between two ships with identical loadouts (e.g., Brig vs Brig or Sloop vs Sloop). Both teams spawn on opposite ends of a large map.

    Their mission is simple:

Locate and retrieve a marked treasure

Deliver it to a specific drop-off point

Or sink the enemy ship to win

    Core Features:
Single marked treasure (chest, NPC, relic) spawns randomly.

Map shows a delivery location (e.g., tower, Sea Post, special Reaper).

First team to successfully deliver the treasure wins.

Or: Sink the enemy ship to instantly win.

    Gameplay Depth:
    Strategic choice:

    Rush the treasure

    Delay and engage in PvP

    Steal the treasure in transit

    Optional mechanics:

    Treasure bearer is slower

Delivery requires short "hold" time (like Hourglass dive)

    Fog, storms, AI sea threats

    Why it works:
    Combines PvP and PvE puzzle-solving.

    Creates replayability and competition.

Could be expanded into a full Seasonal Event Mode.

Why These Modes Work for Sea of Thieves:
Brings back competitive edge similar to old Arena, but with better stakes and lore.

Appeals to both PvP veterans and event-focused players.

Encourages strategic teamwork and betrayal, which defines SoT sandbox.

Adds instanced competitive options without disturbing open world balance.

  • As long these modes take place on one world and you can freely enter them….

    Wait…. Sounds like world events

  • The first option describes the current world event of the Burning Blade. If betrayals are inevitable, then my crew and I stock up and wait for everyone else to use their supplies, then we simply attack the last ship. Also since this is a PvP mode, it should award HG rep, yes?

The other option almost describes SoSS, where you either go after treasure, or the other ship doing it. Players lost interest after a week or 2. Also, they're not going to follow in Arena's wake, and have a private server dedicated to PvP.
