New Trap - Skeletal Sea Mine

  • General Idea:

    A trap that players can throw into the ocean with a small activation period. When the activation time is completed, the mine becomes aggressive and will "swim" towards any ship it sees, then detonate after a small period of time chasing the ship. If it strikes, it leaves one tier 3 hole (questionable since it's an object players can hold), and activates whatever throwable it had in its mouth. Be careful, the ship it attacks can even be yours!

    If placed on the land, it will flop around for a small period of time like a fish out of water. If not picked up, it will simply break and be consumed.

    Use Cases:

    • Defending or locking down an island you want to control, such as a Fort.
    • Useful for distracting enemy boats chasing you
    • Safer alternative to carrying kegs

    Downsides & Counterplay:

    • A sliver of HP, can easily be destroyed with even a double barrel pistol shot.
    • Will be unable to catch ships if they are full wind
    • Requires careful thought and planning when using it, as it can even attack YOUR boat!

  • I mean, I've dealt more damage to my ship by scraping islands lol. Not sure if the amount of development time is worth it to be honest.

  • I like the idea of ocean traps. I think a small keg would be a better model, one that does not "swim" but has a large activation range. You load the keg with a CC, or other throwable. Toss it over the side and if a ship comes in range the effect is triggered.
