So many times, what I want to buy just looks nice in picture, and so disgusting in game, and then never use them again, I can't return it back, I can't delete it, it just stays there and grosses me out everytime I see it, reminds me this unhappy purchase.
I hate this game! Everytime purchased with ancient coins make me unhappy, angry.
Impulse purchasing when you have a history of negative experiences can be a real struggle that people deal with, that goes beyond just not liking the cosmetics in the game.
Some games try to profit off of it more than others. I've always said that in my opinion Rare is one of the least predatory game companies in the live service business. That doesn't mean that it's still not a struggle for some people though.
If these experiences are as strongly negative as you are suggesting I'd take it serious.
You dont have to buy emporium cosmetics. Since you cant trial them you already know before you get it that if you dont like it that you are stuck with it. You purchase with that fact already known.
They could do with having it actually display cosmetics on your pirate or actually on a ship in the shop just to reduce that a bit, but for the time being anything you choose to buy without knowing if you will like it is not on rare, you made that choice, not them.
insiders can buy all the ancient coin stuff for free to test the cosmetics to make sure they display correctly.... so why not buy things there and preview them then decide if you want to buy them with your real ancient coins? but i agree there is some major inconsistancy between preview images and what we get. ive seen multiple twitch drops that look different than the previous copy of the same twitch drops. its like sometimes they pull from an internal concept art pool vs the actual release version. like ive seen different shades of blue or like the leather straps are black in the preview but brown in game
I think the solution to check on Insiders is not really a solution as the item/cosmetic could look quite different when used by different Pirates.
A preview feature would be nice as mentioned because it's real world money with no returns and you are only able to use one pirate. I've brought this up months ago in QoL suggestions. Being happy with your purchase AND being able to find your purchased items and earned rewards easier should be a priority (example: titles, clothing saved presets/quick select)
If you have a big pirate on the main server, then simply pick a big pirate on Insiders. Not a problem at all
@cainbong We have been asking to save cosmetic load outs for 7 years. This is a game where cosmetics are all the matter and we can't even get that. Also wanted an option on character creation to in the very least toggle stuff like fat/thin, male/female and they can't even give us that. 99% of the QoL things we need/want haven't and wont ever happen. This is the game. We either accept it or move on.
