Legend of the Veils are ruined.

  • You are now expected to sail 10+ map squares for each stone forcing you in and out of different regions of the map and adding a ton of additional time to complete the voyage all spent sailing.

    Major disappointment super happy I’ve already done 80+ of them the old way before they were changed.

    It isn't always far away, it's just random.

    Sometimes it sends me to the next closest island and sometimes it expects me to sail from Thieves Heaven to Galleon's Grave for a shipwreck.

    I think it is just broken. It no longer considers where you are and instead sends you to a random location.

    didn't that start happening with roar cargo quests towards the end of the old voyages?

    You might be right, I guess it could be their new vision of balancing but with all the changes in season 11 it would seem out of place to make veils less appealing.

  • The new LotV meta is to cancel the voyage and vote on a new one after inserting the first stone if the next activity is super far away.

    I mean I guess "super far away" has different meaning for different people.

    The map isn't "that" big. I guess maybe if you're trying to grind stuff out.

    But grinding a game i can just chill and enjoy seems counter productive to me.

    So this is a recent change beginning in s11.

    Veils used to take place entirely within one region of the map.

    Now the second activity is forcing you to sail like 10+ map squares to an entirely different region of the map.

    So people will find a workaround and the workaround is cancel and vote new.

    I've run the veil quest before s11. I guess with only 360 or so hours I'm a baby in these parts, so I'll speak from a perspective of naivety, if you'll allow it.

    My crew still enjoys the adventure. We plan out the longer quests for when we have the time. Like if we all are able to get online on-time. If not, we do something else.

    Just looking to bring a different perspective to the table.

  • If this is the case then Rare needs to revert this change, inadvertent or not. Completing 100 veil voyages not just for a commendation, but an achievement too, is a very tall order, but nerfing the voyage so that they're not restricted to a single biome is hellish.

    Sounds fine to me.
    GH Vaults used to send you all over. Don't see an issue. In the Dive meta, you may not even see another boat anyway, servers have been a bit of a ghost town lately for me.

  • Like a lot of things, it's just bad RNG sometimes.

    We did two tonight, neither had this issue. First one was a ship graveyard near Mermaid's Hideaway, followed by a Haunted Island at Plunder Valley, and Veil tornado south of Shark Bait Cove. Second one was Sudds at Plunder Valley with a liar's map at Discovery Ridge, followed by a Haunted Island at Shark Bait Cove, and the Veil tornado was the same spot as before.

    So it is still possible for them to be pretty closely clustered.
