Quick question I'm hoping someone can officially answer. Does the ballastball do anything to sloops and brigs. I have some friends that say it doesn't do anything, but I feel like it makes the water rush in faster. Anyone have a clue
Ballastball
@screenamesuck if you have “2nd deck” holes which are essentially just back of the ship holes on a sloop/brig then yes it’ll flood the water in via those when it normally wouldn’t if your water line is still on 1st deck. It’s not super useful but can offer a much needed panic in some crews when they’re close to sinking. My advice would be to use it when you know they’re second deck and close to “bonging”.
@screenamesuck it does affect them like the previous commenters said, the galleon is just hit very hard with it since that can have a ton of second deck holes that normally dont take any water
When 2 or 3 people are bailing, it doesn't help much at all. Otherwise, it can mess up the bilge plan. Bilge chose their action (bail / repairs) depending on water intake, if they believed that they had just the time to get a hole patched in front, a ballast ball can cause them to call for their flex which they wouldn't have done otherwise. Letting you get the edge and keep the upper hand afterward. But that's nowhere near as effective as against a galleon.
@scheneighnay said in Ballastball:
It'll speed it up a bit on the sloop I think, because it has that half-deck where the holes don't leak consistently otherwise.
On a brig I don't think it'll do anything, but who shoots ballastballs at brigs.
You guys find ballast balls?
Ballast Ball fundamentally lowers the ship in the water regardless of how much water is already on it... if a ship has no holes in it, it will literally do nothing to them. However if a Galleon is peppered with Second Deck holes it will start filling up with water pretty quickly. With a Sloop and a Brig it does the same thing... only there are just a few holes that are considered "upper deck" holes. With the Brig it is all the ones around the captains cabin/Quest Table area, and on the Sloop it is small "Mid Deck" area... so if those areas are all tier 3, then yeah it will sink, but most of the time it is a minor inconvenience.
