I am a potential player, but I am wondering if there is any persistence in player inventory?
I understand that there is supposed to be ship persistence, but I have heard that there is no persistence in the player inventory.

As in cannonballs, food and wood are not persistent over multiple play sessions, as are the inventories of ships on that same level.However everything you unlock (weapon skins, clothing, ship cosmetics etc) do persist and can be changed at any point in time.
For ship cosmetics to persist on the ship (without having to reselect them every session) you have to have purchased a ship
