Throwable items are hitting yourself

  • When you are in a battle and you want to throw a blunderbomb away, then when your right hand is consciously or unconsciously against the wall the blunderbomb will hit the wall. As a result, you will also be hit by your own blunderbomb, even though you are not aiming at the wall.

Was this intended or not? And if it was not intended could it perhaps be changed, so that you can no longer kill yourself accidentally?

  • Im a generally a huge friend of "friendly fire" in online games. (I play mostly in hardcore in FPS games, meaning you can kill yourself and teammates.)

It actually reduces spamming of throwables, and makes you think before attacking.

So yes im all pro friendly fire.

  • I'm left handed so I used to blunderbomb myself alot during PvP. It's less now but still happens on occasion, I'm with OP.

  • Super annoying trying to throw throwables through the sloop staircase

  • @ghostfire1981 I'm also fine with the blunderbombs being friendly fire, but when you're up against the wall and you throw a blunderbomb away, you hit yourself because of the wall even though you don't see the wall on your screen and I don't know if that was intended for the throwables.

  • @jtye-b I think it's intended. The projectile comes from the right hand, so it's offset. If it came from the center, it would look weird to other players as the blunderbomb would not look like it was being thrown from your hand but rather from your chest.

  • @d3adst1ck Yeah, that will indeed look weird if it comes from your chest.

Maybe they can keep the animation the same, so it doesn't look weird. But then in the animation you also throw an invisible blunderbomb that comes from your chest and that will be the "real" blunderbomb? Or will this you think affect the way blunderbombs work?

  • @jtye-b that won't be changed, you just gotta stay away from walls my g

  • @d3adst1ck
Well, the bullets from guns come out of the chest rather than the barrel of the gun, so I don't see a problem with moving the blunderbomb XD.

In all seriousness, the only problem I see with blunderbombs currently is for left handers. But hitting yourself with a blunderbomb is an example of skill that each player has to learn to use them effectively. And more skills to learn is always good in my book. So blunderbombs are fine the way they are, in my opinion.

The guns are all held around the chest area, so it's not noticeable.

I think the offset it fine. You can already spam these ridiculously fast, and they are 50 damage a pop for a direct hit which makes them arguably stronger than the guns, so if you hit yourself a few times because you throw it into something too close to you that's a small tradeoff I can live with.

I guess I wasn't clear enough in my second statement; I am fine with blunderbombs the way they are. I will edit the original post.

It's noticeable when a piece of me is clipped into the enemy and they get a one-shot without even pointing in my direction.

That's not because of where the gun fires from; that's a hit reg problem.

Who can know for sure? All I know is that there are situations where guns cannot realistically hit me and they do, sometimes because of hitreg, other times because I've clipped into them when they hadn't pointed at me at all.

But that's getting away from the topic. Which we agree on.
