Windows 11 with Seao ov thieves PC + a note for your old, limited edition SoT Solid State drive.

  • ok so here's a little thing I notice. I think others who upgraded to Windows 11 have the same issue. but apparently the moment I Upgraded Windows 10 to Windows 11, Sea of Thieves will boot up, showing the "Sea of Thieves: A pirates Life" logo. but around 2 to 3 seconds it shuts down. when I downgrade back to windows 10 it works fine. now a little info with what I notice. Windows 11 is more likely to be used for Laptops and notebook PCs. for Desktop it's more like a weird version of Windows 10 mixed with Windows 7 and 8. (that's what it reminds me by just looks) now to the moderators and admins who run the forums. I like to give you a heads up this desktop P I'm on is the only one in my house with the ability to upgrade to Windows 11, the rest are a bit too old to upgrade to windows 11. my rig is the following
    NIVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
Drivers are recent with Version 511.79
    processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20GHz
16 GB DDR4 RAM (right now 15.89 after the System using part of it, always happens.)
when this system is windows 10, this all works 100%, but anyone with this kind of builds your graphics will be at "Common" graphics level, so mid-tier Gaming PCs rigs like mine or low-mid tier PC rig can run this at common graphics at its best setup. but when this system swapped to windows 11, even with all this rig info. it closes the game right as you play it.
now before you ask, playing it on the Beta cloud system will still work, but physical download from the store or steam will not work. as of right now Rare, I can only play sea of thieves on the Cloud. I have it on Xbox but I wanted to try PC a bit. for now ill stick to my Xbox one S and play it on the cloud on my phone.

a side note the Sea of Thieves limited edition Solid-state drive you used to sell, only lasted for my whole "1-year warranty" before it died the day after my Warranty expired. next time you guys promote an Externas Solid-state drive. make sure it lasts a lifetime. that

on the first point, nowhere has it been stated that SoT works on windows 11, and since windows 11 is still quite new and the OS got quite the overhaul it is likely something that will take some time investigating

Expecting electronics to last a lifetime is foolish, granted it could be expected to not die just outside of your warranty period.
but lifetime of work from any electronics will never happen and most SSD's have an expected lifespan of just about 10 years and within that time period dependent on its use (how many reads/writes it had to do) it will have degraded considerably

  • A lot of games don't play nice with Windows 11 or so I heard.

I figure SoT is just another one of those games.

  • After I updated to windows 11 my game started crashing too, fps would drop before the game crashed but it would roughly take a few seconds to 5 minutes for the first crash to happen, then I started getting a bunch of "corrupted files" messages. I found out that this 3rd party program that Windows downloads for me on "my behalf" without my knowledge or permission was causing sea of thieves and a few of my other games to crash. Running an antivirus program won't detect any problems because even though it's a program that sticks to a bunch of files, including your main drives where your OS is in, and messes with games, it is supported by microsoft and/or your motherboard's provider. And since it has a piece of it ingrained in the same drive as the OS, it can't be uninstalled easily without it worming its way back in. The program's main function is to "Optimize gaming sound drives" but is not required nor needed.

The program is called Nahimic Services and I got it turned off by going to settings and turning it off in add or remove program

It's not malware, but in my opinion it might as well be.

  • im so angry that this could be the cause of all my frustration of the past 2 weeks with crashed to desktop and mysterious corrupt file notifications.. Trouble is this PC is new and came with windows 11 preinstalled (wouldnt have been my choice otherwise) so i dont think i can roll back to windows 10 :'(

    RARE PLZ FIX!

So go download windows 10 from microsoft directly and reinstall it, should you know how to do that. Then just disable the ability for it to update to Windows 11.

Win 11 is honestly garbo, like 8 and vista. Don't put it on your machines. It is not ready, IMO for regular customer use. I still don't have it and won't be getting it anytime soon.

  • @personalc0ffee microsoft seems to be able to do it everytime:

    XP good
    Vista bad
    7 good
    8 bad
    10 good
    11 bad

It is either a curse or a gift. You decide.
