Changes to the trident of dark tides

  • It would be cool if the trident could be used as a melee weapon and a ranged weapon, when not aiming it would be melee and would have more reach than the sword but less damage, when you aim it would act as it currently does.
    Another feature that would go well with this is that the trident would either have a specific amount of melee hits it can do or it wouldn't break which means you could use it for melee infinitely but range only for a few times.
    If this doesn't work then you could also possibly add a second trident that is just melee.

  • rather than more reach and less damage I feel like slower and more powerful makes more sense for your suggestion

    they should let us shoot bubbles out of them to party with outside of hostilities

  • @caninedart4748 I think if you want the trident to have an alt attack for melee, then that opens the door for pistol whip and blunder/EoR buttstock slaps.

    Not sure how the sword lords would feel about that one.

  • Melee tridents would be interesting & more along the lines of real tridents, and I agree with WolfManbush that they should be highly damaging.
    I don't think alt attacks belong in SOT but let me use tridents to put out fires!

  • I don’t know, alt attacks could be pretty fun. Hitting people with my shovel to deal some damage would be entertaining, especially if it crited when you fire yourself out of a cannon…

    that's an interesting and cool idea

    problem I see is that it either puts fire out too fast which would destroy effectiveness of fire or it's weak against fire to balance it and just feels weird

  • I almost always feel like I should be using it to block an attack from siren slaps or sword swipes and it just doesn't happen. That's all I really want extra from it.

  • @wolfmanbush As the trident ammo is limited I don't see why level 2 and 3 bubbles shouldn't extinguish fire on impact - even in optimistic cases it would save a little bit of time on a galleon and hardly any on the other ships if you are bucketing efficiently.
    I agree that level 1 bubbles putting out fires 100% of the time would be too good :)

  • I only want to be able to swap it out between my blade and Blunderbuss, you cant do anything while you're holding it!
