So my idea was adding more ways to do damage as a boarder, to spice things up on the seas. The best idea I came up with was a tiller rope to cut as a way to stop steering, causing the ship too lose mobility and make them easier prey. Like dropping the anchor when boarding you can can do the same thing but by boarding you can do it directly without having to use cursed cannonballs, or hitting it with a normal cannonball. The rope would be situated in the main cabin on a gally to the right of the door, left of the door on a sloop and to your right when entering the cabin on a brig. It would take a little longer than dropping the anchor and would show your character sawing the rope with a dagger.
New secondary objective when boarding.
@opulent-ollie It can hurt the defenders. As I said boarding is already very powerful, let alone making more things to break as a boarder should the defenders kill the attackers only makes them spend more time repairing things which give more time for the attackers to come back and board.
More things to repair = More time wasted
More time wasted = More time to get killed againI don't think it needs anything much new really, just give us hammers and each hit snaps a handle off the wheel or capstan, or wheel off a cannon so it can't aim, breaks a sail pulley, disables access to a resource barrel.
All things which disrupt the crew as they repair.Easy to implement and we get a whole lot of new things to cripple on a boat if you can get aboard with an inattentive crew.
Good tactic for stealing a fort, sabotage the unattended boat to stall them when they go to depart.
@iceman-d18 I've just gotten bored of just dropping the anchor then killing them as they spawn till they sink. I agree boarding is viable but has gotten dreadfully boring imo.
There has been a suggestion for a boarding axe that would replace one of your weapons.
You can climb up other locations on the ship. Slower than the ladder and very loud to warn the ships owners.
It strikes like a normal sword but Slower with more damage at the cost of not being able to block or dash with it.
Instead you could pull off planks with its secondary function. I have issues with this though. It seems OP unless you made action of pulling off a plank very loud and slow. Or made it so only the most recent holes could be pulled off e.g. after 5min the plank fades from view so bloarders can't use this function.
