What if you could load items/chests into cannons?

Loading, unloading, gathering resources, and doing it all wisely is a part of the experience

No for that reason but also no because open crew doesn't need randoms shooting their loot into the great wide open which is much harder to recover than just dropped loot overboard

Unloading a huge haul is meant to feel intense like a race against the clock, as this is when you are most vulnerable to other pirates.

You're fully loaded, hemmed in, not on your ship, not watching the horizon as carefully.

Being able to launch your loot ashore via cannons does away with all of those elements completely.

Load cannon with gunpowder barrel and hit the enemy ship = win. I get your point, but I don't think it would work well.
